Tiger is on fire (en fuego)

I know its tough for some people to admit, but the game has just passed him by. No Major Championships in the past four years, not impressive. The fist pump celebration just isn't what it used to be. He just hasn't developed the short game to be consistent enough when the pressure is turned on. Now he has a whole new generation of young kids taking his trophies and getting in his way. Its just a matter of time before he is distracted by an Applebees waitress and that new girlfriend goes after him with ski poles(?) and he drives a jet ski into a manatee or something.

Oh wow, thank you for the laugh. The 61 he shot yesterday would also beg to differ.

If Tiger never hit another Driver I think he could win 7 more Majors. In the Majors he has gotten in trouble with that club and can't get himself out of it. He hits a 3-Wood further than anyone off the tee, why he doesn't settle for the 300-yd 3-Wood where he wants it more often than not, rather that hitting Driver 500 yards (275 forward and 225 sideways) is beyond me.

I have said for years that he could dominate the Tour if he chose to hit less Drivers, especially after coming back from his year long hiatus.

The game has not passed him by, Jack went almost 6 years in between Majors in his career. The field is far better today than it was when Jack played and that also makes a huge difference.

Tiger is still #1 in world. He hasn't played well at the majors, but he has time.

What's funny is, this article talks about the exact opposite theory (he should use the driver more) about Tiger at the British. Maybe there are too many people trying to tell him what to do. :)

You could write an opera about Tiger on 17. Why even carry a driver if you won't hit it on a crucial par-5? That lack of belief says so much

I would say people like Einstein, Newton, Jefferson, Guttenberg, Pasteur, Borlaug, Salk and many other inventors, philosophers, writers, scientists etc have really changed the world. Tiger has affected a game that is played by only about 10% of americans.

I have been playing golf for 55 years and I love the game. I think it is great that the PGA helps raise so much money for worthy charities but be realistic and know that Tiger plays a game but he doesntsave millions of people or make things or discover things that makes life better for millions or billions of people.

I'm gunna go out on a limb and say when tiger's dad said that he would change the world, he meant the golfing world. I'm pretty sure he wasn't insinuating he would find a cure for cancer. Jordan was no Einstein either.

I've often wondered this exact thing myself.

Apparently Mr. Shipnuck has forgotten that the fairways are concrete across the pond and 2-iron is the universal driver there.

He hasn't won but he's acutally played quite well. Last 5 majors

British 2012 - T3
PGA 2012 - 11th
Master 2013 - T4
US OPEN 2013 - 32nd
British 2013 - T6

There can't be many, if anybody, that has played that well the last 5 majors. And I think most can agree he wins the Masters this year running away if his ball didn't hit the pin on Friday. Cost him 4 strokes and a lot of distractions.

There is no doubt in my mind that Tiger would have won the Masters if he wouldn't have hit the pin. He's going to win a major soon.

I guess I was comparing Tiger ... to himself. And, he has not played well on the weekends lately at the majors. Overall, I will concede your point. :)

I can concede that he had a point that Tiger has played better than most in the past 5 majors. He has struggled on the weekends, but he is still a threat.

You are correct.

He hasn't finished, although he has good results in the Majors I wouldn't say he has contended.

His putting was pretty terrible today. He actually struck the ball fairly well with the exception of a couple of holes.

Kinda like his last few majors...if he can find his putting stroke in the Majors he will win many more.

Tiger needs to get within striking distance of the lead tomorrow or else it will really tough for him to leap frog 50-60 players. When you have that many players to climb over you can't expect all of them to fizzle out.

And there are some really consistent players in the top 25.

I think the rain delay screwed things up, like Adam Scott had 5 birds in around 8 then delay, then 1 bird and 1 bogie for a 65. He was cruising though like he was gonna get -8 or so before the delay
