West Division teams/games:

NW (2-2) vs Neb. (2-3) Were Neb. to win, that would give the Wildcats 3 losses. That may eliminate them from winning the division.
Should they beat the Cornhaulers, that would drop Neb to 2-4, their death nail.

Minn. (2-2) vs Purdue (3-1) This could be the most important game in our division. We need Minny to beat Purdue and give them a 2nd loss. Conversely, should the Boilers win, that would drop the goofy gophers below .500 and they also would have 3 losses.

Mich. (4-0) vs Wisc. (1-2) Badgers looked bad in a loss to Notre Dame last week and may not be the Wisc. we've known of late. Nevertheless, they could get stronger as the year goes by (as we all hope our Hawkeyes will). A Mich. win drops Wisc. to 1-3 and strengthens our lead, should we beat Maryland. It might be such a thing that we could lose to the Badgers later and still win the West.

We are being handed the West Division Championship right now.

We’ll know in 2 weeks if we’re any good. We go 6-0 we’ve seen the best of our schedule. If we get our teeth kicked in the next 2 weeks we know we’re in the pack but can still win the West.

Tough to argue against your conclusions.

jNW vs Nebby - So Ian Pike, jNW only has one loss in the conference. One of my main rules is you always want your top rivals in the West Div to lose their road games (while the hawks win some on the road). But Nebby has 2 conf losses so I hope Nebby wins and then they both have 2 conf losses.

Minn vs Purdue - Ian Pike, Purdue does not have a loss in the Big Ten, they are 1-0. Minny is 0-1 in the Big. The game is at Purdue and it is early in the year so I dont mind Purdue winning and kicking Fleck in the nuts. Plus Purdue plays MSU and OSU yet on their schedule and I think they lose both of those games. I think Nebby probably beats Purdue so they will get their losses. If Iowa loses to Purdue then I will regret this but I dont think so.

First off Ian Pike, you always want an east division team to beat the hawk's West Div rivals. No brainer. Second, Wisconsin is 0-1 in the Big Ten and their other non-conf games dont matter. So definitely we want Mich to beat Wisky.

Ian Pike, are you trolling us with this post or are you not seeing that Big Ten records are different than overall records, that we always want East teams to beat our West rivals because it is overall Big Ten record that determines division winners, and most times we dont want our rivals like Wisky to win on the road. Wisconsin already lost to an East rival at home which is great but their last East rival this year after the Mich game is Rutgers which I would bet Wisky wins.

And I disagree that any West Div championship is being handed to Iowa. The players need to go out an win it because that is their first main goal, win the West, win all your games, win the BTChamp game, get into the CFP and go go go.

Exactly. The next two weeks tell us if this team is special or another 8-4 team. Either way. Go Hawks!

Pike, overall records don’t matter if you are looking at the best path for Iowa to win the West. To me Iowa just needs to take care of business and it starts tonight. Take care of the cross over games and they will control their destiny.

I hate Nebraska more than Northwestern so go Cats. Frost could get fired if they lose and I love seeing Nebraska in turmoil.

I’m not sure who I want to see win the Purdue/Minnesota game. Purdue is gonna come at us with everything no matter what their record is, so will Minnesota. I might have a small lean towards Minnesota just to see Purdue knocked down a peg but that feels dirty.

Go Michigan all the way, deep digging those Badgers a hole!

I‘m rooting for Indiana over PSU, I’ll never root for PSU….EVER.

Rooting for Rutgers over Ohio State because upsets are fun.

Our destiny depends on how our O line develops. Stronger and nastier is the ticket. Develop our run blocking and the passing game will open up. I do not see enough separation by the receivers yet in the intermediate area. We are seeing enough separation now on long balls.

It really is a big weekend. If we take care of business things will take care of themselves. But parity is running rampant. I'm not scared of anyone in the west really. Yeah Purdue getting their 2nd L and Wisky losing to Michigan would pretty much have us in the drivers seat. NW stinks this yr I bet NE beats them.

I'd rather win the west by running the table an looking good doing it but having a little breathing room incase we slip up here or there (seems inevitable) sure wouldn't hurt.

To me your kind of mixing non-conference losses in with conference games or scenarios. Doesn't work like that.
