This season ticket holder is probably gone

I am having a hard time deciding whether to have waffles or pancakes at breakfast tomorrow.

Does anyone want to see pictures of my dog. Maybe we can share recipes and post memories of high school here too.

Fricking nancies.

So what you are saying is that a loss to a team that played in an BCS bowl game, with a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate at quarterback, is all it took to make you bail?

Wow. Just wow.

You might be the biggest tool on here.

Yeah, that's what all of us are saying. Of course, we would never mention a 7 game losing streak, a losing record to Isu in the last 14 years, losing to MAC teams, taking the foot off the gas once you have a lead again and again and again, losing the close games over and over and over, etc.........................

Curious why you think we all should remain silent when the program is in the condition it's in.

Crying about wanting to give up season tickets (revered and coveted by some) on a message board is going to help the condition of the program? I can't imagine anyone is happy about how things are going, and I know you won't believe it but neither are the coaches and players.

Go support em. If not, I'll take the extra leg room or fill your seat with someone who wants to be there.

I have season tix and have for 10 years plus two years in college.
I am really on the fence with keeping them. Love tailgating and hanging out with friends and family. Still enjoy going into the games and the game atmosphere. But I have just become so apathetic to the team. I dont care anymore and actually really laugh about it.
I dont want to give up the tix but really I feel like I am supporting KF and the direction he has the program going. Its not an enjoyable situation from a football perspective.

I agree. I had tickets for 25 years;moved away, then moved back to iowa. There is absolutely no way i would buy season tickets now with the product they put on the field. I don't care so much about the record, but the continued "play not to lose" philosophy is sickening. How many games have we lost when leading going into the 4th quarter the last 5 years? Almost always we have sat on the ball and lost. At least this last week i feel we were trying to win, which is hopeful. What i really would like to know is who ACTUALLY calls the plays, ferentz or OC?

So basically, your golf club gives you consistently poor service and quality for your 6K a year, yet you continue to blindly fork over the money without any hesitation? You sound kind of........dumb.

That's what you took away from my post? Of course not...you know exactly what I was getting at, cause I can tell you're very smart.

But let me make it more clear just in case, if people don't think there getting what they pay for....don't...and if enough people do this a change might be made sooner.

Overall i don't think futilely voicing constantly that barta, KF, and GD should be fired does much... maybe they should...but they will be here this year, likely next year...if it stays bad...they will....

If you Really want a change, don't buy Hawkeye gear, cancel your season tickets, don't go to games...be a true crusader for the cause

I am OK with mediocrity, along with being dumb...so I am just gonna keep supporting the Hawks.

I am not overly smart though, your correct...see I didn't even spell "you're" correctly. Thanks though.

^^^ Well said. I dont agree with you on many things Freed but these are some really good points.

Not even close to the same thing, but ok.

It was a bad analogy... I see that now...but at its main point..it states you pay for what you enjoy...and if you don't enjoy it anymore...you shouldn't pay for it.

If revenue drops enough, changes will be made sooner than if revenue stays high.

The close losses burn. The frequency of them does give pause for concern. However, even if I wanted an immediate change, I wouldn't think my posting of it on a message board would get it done, and I wouldn't have the wherewithal to not financially support the Hawks...cause that would just ultimately hurt me...

I pay over $6000/year for my golf club membership, cause I love golf...I feel its worth it...if it was always predicated on great performance... I would be greatly disappointed and I would consider it a huge waste of money. That said I totally understand someone not wanting to shell out big $ for something they don't feel is worth it and is causing more anger/disappointment than joy/pleasure.

I'm sure many will forgoe there season tickets if bad losses continue...its understandable.

Paying money to play golf and actually be the sportsperson playing the game is totally different than trying to be entertained by others. I know the players are trying hard but in the KF era I have always thought we played soft on third and long on defense and a conservative offense, with little semblance of an offensive identity.

If my cable or satellite provider started having non-entertaining, non-interesting channels on every channel (which most channels are) I would drop my TV package, etc, etc.

It was an entertaining game to a degree yesterday. But the first qtr was sort of flat and the second half the offense was bland while the defense played pretty tough. But for many fans the time, money and emotional involvement can be too much.

Nobody thinks that. The truth is if folks keep buying season tickets, nothing will change. If Iowa football doesn't bring in the revenue it usually has it will be easier for the University of Iowa to consider getting rid of kf. And it's very evident that kf will not get this thing turned around, unless you think 5-7 wins is success.

This was my first year not renewing my season tickets (9-year season-ticket holder). A few other factors played into the decision as well but the tipping point has been the product on the field. I just value my time ... and my money ... too much to continue to invest in season tickets for a product that sadly, has become very average. It's what we are ... an average program. New coaches ... etc., but the same results...

Still love the Hawks and always will. I have been a die-hard for 33 years ... And I absolutely think we will finish better than last season.

Some fans will keep their tickets forever (win or lose) ... Some live in small-town Iowa and going to Iowa City every Saturday is like a vacation. For me, I can definitely find other avenues for my time and money ... I have to admit, I watched my first Iowa home game on television for the first time in 9 years ... and it was nice to simply be able to turn the channel to another game and continue on with my day ... I don't know where the program is headed ... Sure, we looked decent yesterday ... but the have-nots of the conference are getting better and have passed us by ... Northwestern, Indiana ... Minney ... programs all headed in the right direction. Teams we used to own ... are now surpassing us ... So yeah, I can understand someone not renewing season tickets. It's an investment ... time and money ... And when you spend a good chunk of change on something you want a good product in return ... Lately, we don't have that ...

They are facts that nobody can doubt. I've read tons of hawk message board threads in the last 24 or so hours. A constant theme in most of them is "kf pulls up once he's in the lead" and "kf finds a way to lose the close ones".

I am so SICK of his unaggressiveness and it's no secret to the national sports medai. Look at the guy from espn that called this. Look at the sports illustrated guy that has no respect for kf. The only ones that aren't admitting what kf is are the kf defenders on here. WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your program is going down the drain before your eyes.

I can't imagine giving up my season tickets...but there were a lot of new faces in my area yesterday and a lot of familiar faces missing. FWIW.

We've had season tickets for more than 20 years. My better half wanted to give them up this year because of the apathy that is setting in for both of us. It's a big financial, time, and family commitment to hit every home football game but we've done it because we enjoy it. Yesterday was the first day it truly didn't feel like it was worth it anymore.

Last year, I was as cynical and negative as almost anyone here. I was almost sick when I was watching Iowa play last year. They were that bad.

Now we still have people climbing over each other to be the first ones to jump off the ledge when the Hawks looked lightyears better than a year ago? THOSE are the fans to whom I say good riddance. It's one thing to ***** about a stagnant program or one that's in a downward spiral. But I could find more reasons for optimism in almost any singular series from yesterday's first half than I could drum up in an entire season's worth of misery a year ago. There was IMPROVEMENT, yet people still think the sky is falling.
