This season ticket holder is probably gone

Stop making NIU out to be some juggernaut. They are a middle of the pack Big Ten team. Yes they won a lot of games last year, but they had a dog crap schedule- I mean, they actually lost to Iowa, which tells you something.

I don't care if you buy tickets or not, but going forward, as a whole, Iowa needs to get better or slash ticket costs.

So basically, your golf club gives you consistently poor service and quality for your 6K a year, yet you continue to blindly fork over the money without any hesitation? You sound kind of........dumb.

And you don't read very well, evidently. Or you are just being an *** on purpose.

It was a bad analogy... I see that now...but at its main point..it states you pay for what you enjoy...and if you don't enjoy it anymore...you shouldn't pay for it.

If revenue drops enough, changes will be made sooner than if revenue stays high.

The close losses burn. The frequency of them does give pause for concern. However, even if I wanted an immediate change, I wouldn't think my posting of it on a message board would get it done, and I wouldn't have the wherewithal to not financially support the Hawks...cause that would just ultimately hurt me...

The difference is that if you stink at golf you can do something about it. You can get lessons, go to the range, etc. You can work to better the results. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to make the product you are paying to watch in Iowa City better.

Supporting the U of Iowa and its athletic programs is something I will always do, as a graduate.
Supporting Kirk Ferentz is not something I will do any longer.
I believe a distinction has to be made between these two actions, as they are quite separate (imo). Be true to your school does not automatically mean you have to be true to an inferior coach. In fact, quite the opposite: I want my school and its programs to be successful and a source of pride, and the football coach is not contributing.

At this point, It should be interesting to see what does happen when they "re-seat" Kinnick for next year. There is still a lot of football to yet be played this season.

Is there a trend? Yes. However, the product does "appear" to be an improvement, and you've already made your financial committment to this season. Seems the prudent thing to do is re-evaluate your decision in November and enjoy what you have today. A game in IC is a full on experience. Treat it like a privliege, if the entertainment/enjoyment return on your $ isn't there, don't beat yourself up. It's easy to bring joy to many of your friends by offering out your tix this year (or resell them), and you can save on your weekly associated costs of going to a game.

I waited a day to write this so as to avoid it being too in the moment, but I think Iowa football may have lost me and my four seats after that loss. It was my tipping point I think. While I have been upset at times over the past few seasons, apathy has set in now. I'm tired and do not wish to invest any more emotional energy in this program. I've sat through the Wisconsin fake punt game, the close calls against highly inferior directional schools, the Central Michigan fiasco, the Penn State embarrassment, and now our 2 game home losing streak to the MAC. I don't know if our program has hit bottom, but I certainly have.

i really haven't enjoyed an Iowa football game (or at least the hours following it) since the 2009 season, and that is sad. Given the resources and the success of that season, the only explanation for the highly inferior product is gross mis-management, possibly due to resting on his laurels. We should not be a coin flip with MAC schools....ever! While I saw some good things yesterday, the loss indicates we are still soooooo far away from where our bottom should be. If Iowa football was a stock, we just hit a new low yesterday, and maybe it is time I take emotion out of it and dump it so I can invest in a company with competent management. So season basketball tickets it is, and Ferentz can go scratch.

Now we just need you to quit this board, and we are set.

yeah I want to the penn state game for my bachelor party last year...

It's going to be awhile before I attend a game again and it's sad because I used to go at least 3 times a year - even to watch these ultra boring Ferentz teams ... I could stand it when we won ugly... honestly my logic tells me those days are over.

Maybe If I liked to get chitfaced and oogle at the college girls... but ... bleeeeh

Last year, I was as cynical and negative as almost anyone here. I was almost sick when I was watching Iowa play last year. They were that bad.Now we still have people climbing over each other to be the first ones to jump off the ledge when the Hawks looked lightyears better than a year ago? THOSE are the fans to whom I say good riddance. It's one thing to ***** about a stagnant program or one that's in a downward spiral. But I could find more reasons for optimism in almost any singular series from yesterday's first half than I could drum up in an entire season's worth of misery a year ago. There was IMPROVEMENT, yet people still think the sky is falling.
They did not look "lightyears" better, you idiot. We scored 20 points on offense after scoring 18 against them last year, while giving up 30 points on D after only allowing 17 last year. They looked slightly improved. We are NOT significantly better. This team WILL NOT win 6 games.

I am having a hard time deciding whether to have waffles or pancakes at breakfast tomorrow.

Does anyone want to see pictures of my dog. Maybe we can share recipes and post memories of high school here too. Go for the muffin

Fricking nancies.

17 of those points came in the first half, when we did look way better than a year ago.

And IIRC, the weather was less than ideal for last year's game, which kept both teams pretty grounded (or at least that's what we thought at the time; we found out later that Iowa's passing game just sucked that badly). Lynch has improved, too.

If you really couldn't find any reasons to be encouraged by what this team can do going forward, then stop watching. It'll be a favor to everyone.

I'm thinking Hawks19 is that guy from Rivals who has been banned like 100 times based on his demeanor

I have had (4) season tickets for eight years and it continues to get more and more expensive to go to the games. With donations and parking, these games cost over $500.00 each. Add in the costs for tailgating, gas from Des Moines and back, you are approaching $700.00 to $800.00 for every game! I do OK in life, but that's still serious money to contemplate every year.

While I certainly don't expect to go to every game only to see a win (I'm not sure that'd really be worth it either), I do expect to see a quality team that's ready to play and a quality product on the field. There were several instances that that wasn't the case on Saturday. They didn't look organized (especially special teams) and sometimes looked like they didn't know what they were doing. There were some good things that I saw on Saturday - far more than I saw last year - but I'm not one too much for moral victories.

For the investment by fans and the univeristy, it doesn't seem as if we're getting a quality product in return. I seriously thought about not renewing this year, but I did go ahead and do it. Things need to improve soon.

Great post. And I would add if you are still supporting kf, you are contributing to the demise of Iowa Football. How much more do you need to witness before you admit the obvious.

Sorry to see you leave, but the right person is leaving. You, not KF. Let's get all the haters out of Kinnick. (I think Nile Kinnick himself would be happy with that.)

You think Nile would be happy seeing Kinnick completely empty except for the parents section?

Care to take a stab at how Nile Kinnick would feel about the current seven (7) game losing streak, which includes several really humiliating (and arguably very avoidable) beatings? Do you actually think Nile would be singing praise to Kirk Ferentz and staff?

He wouldn't be wanting to run KF out of town on a rail, I know that much. He had a helluva lot more perspective on life than to concern himself with that kind of crap.

Oh really. Did you know him or something? It's moot because if Nile hadn't have passed away he would have gone on to be governor and Iowa would have had a long running great football program like Nebraska has had.

I disagree completely, but I guess I didn't know Nile Kinnick and his innermost thoughts and feelings as well as you obviously did.
