This season ticket holder is probably gone

Anything Jon Miller says is usually wrong.

I'm sorry but he isn't wrong about this. Seriously, think about it and use actual logic. No one on this site is entitled to anything except tickets to a sporting event when they purchase season tickets. If you don't like the product, don't renew. If you keep buying season tickets to a watch a product you know isn't going to be any good or hasn't been good in the past 3-4 years and then complain about it, that say way more about you than it does the team or the coaching staff.

By that logic, Hayden Fry would have never come here because no one would have been left in the stands after the Lauterbur, Commings, Nagel, et al eras. You people just have no idea what makes this program tick. Well I'll tell you: it's loyal, lifetime ticket holders like myself and my family and friends. The program is much bigger than any coach, player, season, or messageboard. This is something that I have learned the hard way over the years as a loyal fan. So I will continue to go, and I will continue to come here and other places and complain when the coaching staff does a terrible job. Because I'm a fan, and that clearly is something that I'm entitled to.

How do you keep track of your bannings? I mean do you just try to log in everywhere, and whichever one lets you log in, you just start b!tching?

Unlike you, I am not an idiot. I keep a list of active accounts at various sites on my computer. It's not that complicated. I would imagine that for someone of your limited intelligence, however, it must seem like rocket surgery.

I like your passion but still you know nothing about what you're talking about. Entitled? What are you, the son of the king of England from the 1600's? You're not entitled to anything with purchasing tickets except admission as long as you aren't violating any rules set by the UofI.

Saying that just being a lifetime ticket holder and fan "entitles" you to anything is a joke.

It is easy for me, I post under one screen name, and I don't get banned. How many bannings, and screen names you had?

If you think the idiot is the guy NOT getting banned on every website he posts, well then I guess I don't want to waste my time explaining to the real idiot how he has this all wrong.

You're the joke. The fans are entitled to everything. We are the program.

No, you're just an idiot in general. It has absolutely nothing at all to do with your posting habits. I was merely responding to the fact that you appear baffled that a person can be banned on a website and still be able to function on the Internet. I would imagine I can find a 3rd grader somewhere to explain it to you if you're still having comprehension problems.

But you said you don't care if you get banned. Why come back then? Please explain more to me about these interwebs you speak of.

Yes, I am a joke because I don't feel entitled like a spoiled rich kid who doesn't get his way. I bet Gary Barta and the people in the AD office have your name and phone number up on a wall as a running joke. "Oh god, this guy again!"

Keep up the smart@$$ crap and you will be banned once again for the 1000 time. This site and everyone isn't cool or smart enough for you awesome guy.

As you can already see by the many responses, you won't be missed. Hope the door doesn't hit you on the way out!

Let me re-clarify my position here: I love Iowa football and I do not expect big ten championships to be happy. I enjoyed myself for essentially one quarter on Saturday because the Hawks played smart, inspiring football. But at the end of the day, this program once again came up short against what should be extremely inferior talent. And that is why I am questioning whether I want to invest in it moving forward.

i will never stop rooting for Iowa football, but I do expect some semblance of competence from it. I am amazed at the number of people here who seem relatively ok with the dismal results over the past three years. Think about how unbelievably bad we have been? We are consistently losing to teams that consist ENTIRELY of players who would have jumped at the chance to play for us. That is like being a captain on the playground and not alternating picks, but being able to choose your team first, then the other captain gets the leftovers. And then you get beat on your home turf. How is that possible? I mean, that is hard to do unless you are completely asleep.

as for the tough guys who call me a cry baby, little girl, or whatever else, I didn't know refusing to accept incompetence was a test of masculinity. And if we are calling names, I would argue you followers in life have no spine and would make excellent cult members.

With that being said, I hope the Hawks find some mojo moving forward this year and provide me with at least a few home victories. If they do, I will be more optimistic and I will once again get my 4 tix in 2014. Until that happens, I will be following the basketball team.

I waited a day to write this so as to avoid it being too in the moment, but I think Iowa football may have lost me and my four seats after that loss. It was my tipping point I think. While I have been upset at times over the past few seasons, apathy has set in now. I'm tired and do not wish to invest any more emotional energy in this program. I've sat through the Wisconsin fake punt game, the close calls against highly inferior directional schools, the Central Michigan fiasco, the Penn State embarrassment, and now our 2 game home losing streak to the MAC. I don't know if our program has hit bottom, but I certainly have.

i really haven't enjoyed an Iowa football game (or at least the hours following it) since the 2009 season, and that is sad. Given the resources and the success of that season, the only explanation for the highly inferior product is gross mis-management, possibly due to resting on his laurels. We should not be a coin flip with MAC schools....ever! While I saw some good things yesterday, the loss indicates we are still soooooo far away from where our bottom should be. If Iowa football was a stock, we just hit a new low yesterday, and maybe it is time I take emotion out of it and dump it so I can invest in a company with competent management. So season basketball tickets it is, and Ferentz can go scratch.

I gurantee you that I won't be buying season tickets next year!!!!
Aweful product on the field from top to bottom.

If you want to stop pumping money into a form of entertainment that's not entertaining you, that's well within your right and I wouldn't hold it against you. The ones who bug me are the ones who are upset with a product (that they are under absolutely no obligation to purchase), yet refuse to do anything but continue buying said product and whine about how they aren't entertained anymore. Buying tickets doesn't entitle a fan to anything. They're buying a form of entertainment, nothing more, nothing less. If they feel some sort of internal obligation (I've been going to games for 30 years, etc.) to continue doing so in spite of being upset with the quality, that's a personal problem, not the athletic department's.

Who do you think pays Gary's salary, you moron?

Buying tickets doesn't entitle a fan to anything.

Um, isn't a ticket a revocable license to enter a particular venue at a particular time to watch a particular event? So I guess, it does entitle a fan to something. Anyway, if I were GarBar, I would read stories about this one from Tennessee about programs going sideways quickly when attendance falls off: Report: Tennessee athletics over $200 million in debt

Interestingly, a buyout is part of the reason for the debt so the UT story cuts both ways. But attendance falling off as well as facility upgrades are other reasons for debt. Iowa fans have showed a great deal of patience to Ferentz and attendance didn't hit Iowa State levels even during the darkest days at the end of Hayden's tenure, but with the new pricing structure, I worry about how long we can keep the wheels on the bus if we really start moving sideways. So sure, you guys can say all day that purchasing season tickets doesn't entitle anyone to anything, but if the AD is charging $650-$850 for a seat between the 20s (a fact that I think some of you don't appreciate), it better put out a decent product because even if folks aren't entitled to say 6-6, they are going to expect at least 6-6 and if you constantly underperform, you're going to see the place empty out fairly quickly. Making this even more scary is that we don't run our athletic department on a shoe string budget such that the shared revenue alone will cover almost all costs.

Fans obviously, but that has nothing to do with the fact that fans always think their smarter than the coach and the AD. You have no idea what it takes to run a program or a college athletic department. You just sit behind your keyboard and yell about things you don't like or think you control or are entitled too. Fact remains you have no impact on anything decision that is made regarding the football program or any program and deep down that pisses you off otherwise you won't be complaining about them on a message board, you would be in Gary Barta's office chewing him a new one.

Wait for it tm, he is going to rebuttal it with "you're a moron" or something truly profound that will make us all feel stupid and he will assert his intellectual superiority over us. Waiting with anticipation.
