This may be re-has...but announcers last night...

I didn't have a problem with the announcing. I think some of you focus in on the miniscule things a little too much. Try paying attention to the game and then the announcers are just "fluff".

Yeah, we ***** and complain about the dumbest things, the announcers, the transportation to and from the game, the temperature of the hot dogs, the new American way. We do nothing but complain and feed our faces. Do I have to post the picture of the soldier sleeping in a muddy hole to make my point?

He is also nuts to proclaim Iowa as a potential favorite in the B10 next year.

We should be top 5, but "favorite" is a bit out on a limb.
Yeah well we were a total of 18 points from being in contention to win the conference this season. I understand that is a questionable ideal but I don't think it is fair to call the possibility next year as nuts. This roster has much room for improvement along with adding some much needed pieces next year, while only losing one contributor off the bench no less. Get on board the bus is leaving. We have a chance to be special next season.

He doesn't hate Iowa actually I think he likes the job Fran is doing, but he is just terrible and can't go through an Iowa game without mentioning Alford...he was loving the Lansing connection to Iowa so he could mention his buddy.

Not to mention he is the only one I've heard that has enough perspective to mention the love affair we have with showing Roy marble every fifteen seconds of every Iowa game. The only parent I want to see is jvb"s mom.

Don't know how anyone can think Dakich is anti Iowa, he said we would be the favorite in the B10 next season then we forced him to backtrack after that statement after watching our comedy of errors for the first 25 minutes, 3 straight open missed lay ups.

The play by play guy was terrible though, no question about that.

Wisconsin loses Bruesewitz, Berggren and Evans. That's a decimated front line. Nearly 20 rebounds of their 37 per game and their inside muscle that helps make them tick.

Good stuff Jon, but please make sure you predict Wisconsin to be near the top next year so that way if you are wrong we don't have to read activerodent bash you all season? Bashing you is our job, not the trolls. ;)

Amazing how Bo Ryan continues to finish in the top 4 in the Big Ten, year after year.

Yep, every year it appears Wisconsin will be rebuilding and every year The Grinch has them competing for the B1G championship. I cannot stand the guy but I respect the job he does at Wisconsin.

I like Dakich. He brings knowledge of the game, he is a fan of the game and he's not afraid to speak his mind even if it turns out to be goofy or wrong. He's not an Iowa hater at all. And depending on who stays and leaves, Iowa can certainly contend.

If MSU loses Payne and Harris, if Indiana loses Oladipo and Zeller on top of Hulls and Watford, if Michigan loses Burke (and more, not likely) and if OSU loses Thomas, they can contend.

If Thomas stays, Ohio State is gonna be Top 5. If Harris and Payne stay at MSU, MSU will be top 5. I think Oladipo is gone and if Zeller stays they will be voted Top 15 for sure. Michigan, if they only lose Burke, will be Top 15. Iowa MAY be fringe Top 25 to start. Wisconsin loses Bruesewitz, Berggren and Evans. That's a decimated front line. Nearly 20 rebounds of their 37 per game and their inside muscle that helps make them tick. Minnesota loses their inside muscle too, Purdue will be better. Illinois will have young talent, but that is the same old story...losing Paul and Richardson.

What broadcast were you listening to? Dakich seemed to have a definite burr under his saddle for Iowa last night; it just came across in what he said and the way he said it. Although I think he was the one who kept suggesting Iowa should contend for the conference title next year.

If he does have something against the Hawks, it could go back to his upbringing and playing and coaching career. Born in Gary, he attended school in Indiana and played for Bob Knight from 1982-85, being selected team captain during his last two years. Iowa was good back then; Knight hated Lute Olson and hated coming to Iowa City. He went on to serve in various coaching roles for Knight the next 12 years, then came back and briefly served as interim head coach when Kelvin Sampson was fired.

As a player, Dakich was a teammate of Steve Alford's for a couple years and the two have remained friends. Supposedly Dakich was unhappy with what happened to Alford at Iowa and the pressure brought on him to leave. I do think there's something that rubs him the wrong way about Iowa and Iowa City; he should be professional enough as a TV announcer to set that aside.

Announcing was fine. Dakich is goofy and a touch repetitive but he gave Iowa plenty of love.

too much complainy and whiny on board.

Depends a lot on who leaves and who stays.

Name one reasonably possible scenario in which we should be the favorite in the B10 next year.

Until we have a proven improvement in perimeter shooting, I cannot imagine a reasonably possible scenario in which we will be next year's favorite.

Basically what he said was if every good basketball player left for the NBA Iowa has got a shot. Well, duh!

I 100% agree that we have a great shot to contend for a B10 title next year, but contending and being the favorite are not the same thing.

Dakich is annoying, but I don't think he hates Iowa. He thinks Josh O is the best 3 point shooter in the Big Ten and said Iowa might be pre-season B10 favorties depending on who goes pro in the conference.

I don't agree with those statements but it shows he doesn't hate Iowa.

Everyone believes JO is the best pure shooter in the B1G. That's because Fran has said it so many times that people believe it. But we all know the difference between the game and practice.

Exactly. But even if all of those folks leave, which seems unlikely that all of them do, I still don't see us as the favorite next year.

I like our chances to contend, but a team that cannot score out of a half-court set cannot be the favorite in the B10.

JFC. Some of you people are gripping way to hard. Dakich is who he is, but he isn't an Iowa hater.

Step away from the ledge. Some of you guys are starting to resemble insecure pathetic Clown fans. You're about two clicks away from dropping the N bomb on twitter.

Breathe deep. Exhale. Ahhhh...isn't that better?

I think next year will be similar to this year where there are 5 teams that have a legit shot to win it. We will be one of those five teams. I don't think we will be a favorite, but we will be in the discussion. If games were 38 minutes long we would have been in the running this year.
