This is why ferentz is toast and will never take Iowa to a bowl again.

So you're mad he ain't mad? Trust me, he hates losing as much as you.

but is he the type to do something about it or the type that thinks "i just have to clean this up and it will be better"?

this applies to many people in many areas of life. you see it all the time if you look around. people in general are poor self evaluators and give themselves the benefit of the doubt. it really does take someone coming from the outside to have a clean perspective. and that pretty much eliminates anyone on this board. hopefully KF has that someone in his life who can be a legit sounding board. i know i've needed that in my life and have benefited from it. but it's hard to have that someone when you answer to no one or are the boss.

To think that he'd answer that question any other way than the way he did proves you're not living in reality. If you seriously think this coach, not to say any other coach, is going to discuss staffing issues in a post-game press conference, you're either blinded by hate, or too stupid to understand how the world works. Probably a good portion of both.

Your response is devoid of any logic at all. But have a Merry Christmas. Wait, wishing you a Merry Christmas could be construed as hateful because that could offend you.

"Q. Are you comfortable with this coaching staff as it is going into the future?
COACH FERENTZ: Yeah, I'm comfortable with everything right now."

I have said before that he is delusional. If after a horrible season, six straight losses and he still answers a question like that, I don't know how any man can say that he is not.

The full quote:

Q. Are you comfortable with this coaching staff as it is going into the future?
COACH FERENTZ: Yeah, I'm comfortable with everything right now. With that being said, I need to take some time and look at everything, starting with my performance, going right down to the bottom. We'll do that like we do every year. We have good coaches, good people. There were a lot of things that went into being 4‑8 this year. That's the objective now in the weeks ahead, is to figure out what could we have done better, what do we need to change, going from there.

And also:

Q. Do you have a level of concern about the progress of your program?
COACH FERENTZ: No, I don't. Nobody's happy about where we're at today, obviously. Big picture‑wise, no. Nobody is happy about today or this season.

Q. What is your biggest concern about the state of the program today?
COACH FERENTZ: 4‑8, not much joy there. You've got to go back to 2000 to be in that situation. So that's not much fun. We've been there before.
We'll have a press conference later in the week coming up. Maybe I'll feel differently then. Still the low point of my tenure here would have been the second part of the '06 season. To me that was a low point. That may surprise you, it may not. I've said that before and I'll stick with that. Maybe I'll feel differently at the end of this week, but currently that's how I feel.

I'm not happy with Ferentz' performance this year. But at this point, I suspect you'd call anything short of his immediate resignation "delusional".

Gee, I guess it's ok for a coach to say, "I'm comfortable with everything right now."
while he has one of the worst offenses in the nation, six straight conference losses and a program that is in a downard spiral.

It seems apathy really has set in with some hawk fans. Your point is that it's not ok for a hawk fan to take him to task on that most foolish statement. Good grief! You are not alone though. There are a lot of hawk fans who are in denial of what has happened to this program the last three years.

1. No idea who you are and really don't care.

2. I joined this forum in October because I am sick of my team having the worst D-1A coach in America, and want to encourage all to stop believing the lie that ferentz is a good coach.

3. I don't play games on here. So, I don't know what you mean when you talk about nobody is taking the bait. From the looks of some of your statements on here, I'd say you are the one throwing the bait out there. I'd just assume you never read any of my posts considering how stupid you make yourself look on here.

You are the one who does not get it FREED: You are recognized as one of the biggest jokes on this message board, and THAT is quite an accomplishment!

Look me up when you can think critically about anything. Until then, don't respond to me.

I'm with those on board that see nothing wrong with this statement. Our season's done we finished 4-8 and failed miserably. Why should he make things worse by going after coaches and players, I have no problem with him saying what he did. What I will have a problem with is if no changes are made during the offseason. Who cares what he says to the media, because it means absolutely nothing, what matters is what goes on behind the scenes to make this a better in the future.

Who said anything about wanting him to call out anyone? I don't want that. However, I do not expect a coach who just finished a horrible season to say, "I'm comfortable with everything right now".

This was my only point. I'd never want him to call out a coach or player in a presser.

He'd just checked his account balance at the ATM.

I know you meant that as a joke, but how else do you explain a guy who makes the foolish decisions ferentz does? He either has something wrong with him (which is what I think) or he may say to himself, "I am gonna be ok no matter what happens because I got the best contract in the world."

After this season, I, for the life of me, can not understand how ANYONE can still say he's a good coach. He may have been at one time, but he is most definitely not now.

Freed...
I have no idea how you've kept this thread going so long. It's quite obvious that the quote you're pointing to was hacked up, BY YOU! You call the coach out for saying what he did, but leave out the part where he says he's going to break down the problems with the program (and he specifically stated it starts with him-on down to the bottom).
I just want to make sure you read the rest of his comment in that particular question. You did continue to read the quote didn't you? Maybe go back and take another look... Billso was nice enough to put it all in there for you.
