Stanley against a blitz.

When it comes to shell shocked pictures this one always creeps me out a little.

Well I know Michigan felt that way two weeks ago yet they came back. We’re better than this. Most of you had this down as a loss before the season started so you got your wish. So I don’t think everyone should get too bent out of shape over this one. It’s just one game. Now Penn St. becomes our “must win” next week. We rarely make the same mistakes twice. We can’t let this game cost us the next one. Hopefully we’ll come out and play angry and give Penn St. a similar dose of pain. Pay it forward.

Lost in the offensive struggles was a terrific effort. Michigan's season was at the brink. They had to earn that win.

While as fans you can be critical and boisterous, but there is no reason to be ashamed. That stadium was loud and affecting Iowa's offense.

Time to chill and hope for better results at home.

Yeah. Good effort. Participation trophy.

I don't have much to say. Defense did its job, offense did not. Just like so many other games during the KF era. If we had a dollar for every time we said that..

Get ready for another 8-4 season. I've been saying it for years: Until Iowa finds a competent offense, this is basically the ceiling.

I'm pretty sure if I continue to post different versions of why I'm pistoff, pause post again and again, I'm pretty sure Ferentz will change things. I remain optimistic

I'm hoping that you are correct - that Iowa is better than this. But this is bigger than the players... I think it because of coaching and scheme.

It feels like the winner of this game was the D coordinator. They stopped the run first (nothing new against us). Then they went with a Blitzer on passing downs until they called a few PI calls (didn't lose the game because of the no calls, but wow, probably missed about 10 of them). So in the second, mixed in the man with zone blitzing. Every time we moved it into their territory, he mixed it up and we got stopped. Their guy made an adjustment. I think BF did make an adjustment initially with the mesh and crossing routes, which was nice. But once Michigan switched up, we couldn't match.

Jackson looked rusty out there. Either that or he wasn't fully back. I thought this game, like many, would come down to Stanley. To a certain extent it did, but I would say it was our O line and lack of adjustments as the Michigan adjusted. My 2 cents

I just keep thinking about what Stanzi, Tate, or Beatherd could do with this team.

It wasn't on Nate. There were only a couple that were playing today. The rest of the offense was MIA.
We literally could have played our entire 3rd string offense and not scored less. Or at the most 3 points less.
If our d held them to 10 points, our 3rd string or even an entire offense of kids off the street would have lost by 3 points more than our first string offense.
That's perspective!!!

Yeah our offense looked like Nebraska's did against OSU.
Oh wait Nebraska scored 7. (Probably less trips to their 40 yard line too.)
If Michigan outplayed us I wouldn't be a bit upset, but this was a pure gift win for Michigan. First turnover fumble to Nate's three INT's. All three on ill-advised throws. The miscommunication with his receivers, the penalties, the lack of gameplan and blitz pick-ups.....and we only lose by 7. Nate might not face this much pressure the rest of the year, but this is the blueprint to beat a non-mobile QB.
I've been saying this about Stanley for a long time.

Nice guy. Works hard. Good Hawk representative. Decent game manager. Big stats.

However, disappears during big games. Can't win a big game. Costs us big games. People will not really remember him after his career despite his yards/TDs. Big game wins gets you in the history books. He's an oh-for in the department IMO.
2-for (OSU,Miss ST) To be fair.

I see the difference between these guys and Nate is they got a hard on for the endzone. Nate is fine with settling for a punt or field goal. You would literally have to rip off Tate, Stanzi, or Beatherd's arm to stop them from finding the endzone. Finishing, that's what it's all about. When our RB's, WRs, and QB stop settling for just moving the ball and really want a taste of that endzone is when Iowa will be a good team.

You don’t get it

May not see this much pressure again this year? Lol. Michigan is every bit as bad as we are. Wisconsin blew their doors off as will notre dame, osu and mich state. Give me a break

Lost in all the talk about the play calling, NS, and the Oline, which were all bad, is the sad fact that our WRs still really cannot create separation on the edge. Smith made a nice contested catch but for the most part these guys struggled to get open. Also we’ve gotten nothing out of our TEs.
when they did get separation they were badly under thrown today.

You understand we’ve seen similar games with those players. You have revisionist history. When you ask your team to block extra players, that’s on the coaches and less of a personnel issue. Our offensive coaches are dreadful and have been for a long time. Game coaching and offensive development- ferentz is in way over his head and his stubbornness has never allowed bringing in an outsider to run it. It’s what’s kept him in his comfort level in his little safe corner of the world
