The World Did Not End!

May not see this much pressure again this year? Lol. Michigan is every bit as bad as we are. Wisconsin blew their doors off as will notre dame, osu and mich state. Give me a break

I was being generous but ya, Stanley will see many good defenses yet this season.

Tv executives have to let out a collective F when they see Iowa on their list.

Most boring, unimaginative, slow football played anywhere. And the announcers have to spin a narrative of “old school big 10 football” like it’s a good thing

Guess what, it doesn’t fucking win you games. It bores everyone to death and makes Iowa a joke on the national scene. Fake ID of college football

Absolutely correct. Always get your hopes up by puke driving the pussy teams then when it really counts shit down pants.

Michigan also has to play The Irish. Another loss for them there as well.

OMG! Two weeks ago we saw how bad Michigan’s defense was. This past Saturday we saw how gawd awful our offense is.

This is Iowa’s next head coach. Hopefully this planet will be burnt and cleansed before that happens. I puke just thinking about Brian being the head coach. Hasn’t this family had enough Iowa City welfare.

Saturday Oct 5, 2019 will become just another Saturday. There was nothing monumental about it. There is going to be some major changes ahead for college football that makes Saturday's disappointment seem insignificant. It won't be immediately, or today, or tomorrow, or the day after. The circumstances under which college football evolved have changed and the trends are not positive for the majority of the teams. Money made what college football has become and money will destroy it. In economics its called creative destruction. There will be college football, but only a select group will be benefiting. Enjoy what you have now because the future probably something far worse than Saturday.

I see the difference between these guys and Nate is they got a hard on for the endzone. Nate is fine with settling for a punt or field goal. You would literally have to rip off Tate, Stanzi, or Beatherd's arm to stop them from finding the endzone. Finishing, that's what it's all about. When our RB's, WRs, and QB stop settling for just moving the ball and really want a taste of that endzone is when Iowa will be a good team.
Where does this come from? Nate is fine with settling for punts or field goals? Yes, he didn't play well, with no help from his line, but to say he's good with not scoring TDs makes no sense. Sorry, can't give you this one.

Hopefully this planet will be burnt and cleansed before that happens.
I hate Brian the Brain being a coach on this staff as much as anybody, but it’s just a dumb game.

Take a month off from watching and rake some leaves or something. Honestly though, Hawkeye football is what it is and if you want success you’re gonna have to switch teams.

I've been saying this about Stanley for a long time.

Nice guy. Works hard. Good Hawk representative. Decent game manager. Big stats.

However, disappears during big games. Can't win a big game. Costs us big games. People will not really remember him after his career despite his yards/TDs. Big game wins gets you in the history books. He's an oh-for in the department IMO.

When Iowa has had their really good seasons (10-2,11-1,12-0, etc.) they have had quarterbacks CAPABLE of making big plays. Brad Banks, Drew Tate, Ricky Stanzi and Beathard could all make plays when the "called play" breaks down. Stanley does not have that ability. I hope next season's QB does.

Also, are the Iowa offensive tackles really considered first round draft picks? Seems to me they still have a lot to prove.

While it’s true the world didn’t end, a former Iowa offensive lineman tweeted he felt he needed to apologize to the defense.

That tells me all I need to know from an actual former Iowa player. It was truly an ugly day for offensive football. Both teams took college football back about 50 years.
I was listening on satellite radio because I was traveling and out of regular radio range. The learfield people, who were shuttling around to several games at the time, had this say about Iowa-Michigan after the Hawks turned it over on downs for the last time;

(Paraphrase) "We take you back to Ann Arbor where Michigan and Iowa are about to mercifully come to an end."

Loud? Are you serious?
Was there. 111,000 was announced attendance, including thousands of Hawk fans. Kudos to Iowa fans, They showed up big time for this game. No more loud there than any full stadium Iowa plays in. Also, was a very friendly atmosphere at the game. I did not hear one negative comment directed at Iowa fans all day. (even during the "walk of shame" out of the stadium)

It had been like 330 some days since Iowa lost a football game. The reaction of the sky is falling is probably warranted when you lose so infrequently. It sucks to lose and Iowa looked horrible on offense. It's going to take a win this week to help flush it. Not going to be easy.

Probably didn't hear anything negative because most Michigan fans knows their offense is only slightly better than Iowa. They had little to talk about after the game.

Hey, if any of guys hate Kirk, or Brian, or anything about Iowa football, why don’t you just go find yourself a blue blood program to cheer for so you feel better about yourselves. Honestly, why you come in here to bitch and complain is beyond me. With the state this country is in you’d think you could find something more important to gripe about. Unless you are just the kind of people that like to complain about every little thing just to feel like you are superior to everyone else and you deserve better. Give me a break. It was just one game and is not indicative of how hard these kids work. Hell, if you’re really honest to yourself, when has everything turned out perfect in your lives. It hasn’t. Nothing is perfect, nobody is perfect. If everything is always perfect then how boring would life really be? It’s time to flush it and get ready for the next game. Gheesh! I’m so proud of these kids and the Iowa program, but I’m not so proud of some of our so called fans. Mind you, there are a lot of good people and fans on this site. But it seems that there are a select few that complain no matter if we win or lose. They are just more vocal after losses with their “I told you so’s.”

Lol, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at your comment. Maybe both? Actually today was the first time I been on the forum since the loss.

I agree it’s just a game and has little relevance in one’s personal life. However, since it’s just the game and not really important then why are we paying THIS GUY four million dollars a year? It sure isn’t because he winning his division on a regular basis. He sure as hell ain’t winning the conference either. Shooting for fifteen years in a row without that feat being achieved. Can you name ONE power five team where the coach gets paid as much as Kirk F for as long as he has been here without winning a conference title? I think not.

Yep, every season he tells his players at the beginning of the year that their goal is to win a conference title. Disingenuous to say the least. Maybe he does that to lie to himself so he can justify in his own mind his fifteen years without a conference title.

I am not arguing with any of your points as they are good advice. Hell even the program North of me that plays on a blue field embarrasses Kirks achievement. More prestigious bowl appearances. A freakin blue football field.

Who the hell is the “we” that are paying KF? Sure ain’t you.

Yes, the football program is self supporting but that also means we help pay his salary, which was $5.075 million in 2017 not $4 million, by buying tickets and merchandise and limp, mystery meat hot dogs. Of course the contributions of the average fan pale in comparison to the contributions of HyVee and MidAmericanEnergy and the Pacha's and the Pappajohn's and the Krause's and so on, but EVERY single fan is contributing.

Agreed. But everyone has a choice.

Loyalty to the University and the team doesn’t necessarily mean you have to support the coach if you aren’t happy with the results.

We are going on fifteen years without a conference title. I thinks that is long enough for any fan who believes their team is capable of doing that. What we’re not in the same league as Wisconsin or Michigan State? I think off of the top of my head that Michigan State has accomplished that feat three or four times in the last fourteen years.

Think about it............... Fifteen years. Is that really acceptable to you? If it is then you a strong proponent of participation trophy’s are you?

I stand corrected $5.075,000. Lol, you know how to cheer me up. :p
