The Omen

I have been getting into figuring out bird species from being on my kayak. From what i can tell from the picture i think this is a Swanson Hawk (locust eater hawk). Fun fact: chicks will kill and eat the youngest nestlings.

I'm going for a big year next year.

The spirt of the mighty Hawk came to protect the RBs from the one whom shall not be mentioned.

Omen or not it is pretty cool. Great to see an resurgence of this awesome bird in the wild.

I would partially agree with you. I enjoy seeing them too, but they're close to being overpopulated now. They have driven the already struggling pheasant population (one of the hawks favorite lunches) even farther down in numbers. :(

Hmmm, I thought it looked like a red tailed hawk... my bad?

Pheasant population declines = hawk population declines = pheasant population rebound = hawk population rebound. Circle of life my man.

I think it is a Cooper's Hawk. That was my first guess when initially seeing it. first image cooper, second swanson.

Live hawk flew into the indoor practice facility while the doors were open. I've seen **** like this before. It's like The Crow or something.

**Should give credit. Came from Coach Doyle's twitter feed

Leave it to a raptor to teach "execution".......
Works for me.

When did mankind get to decide he was God and the determiner of how nature should be managed? Oh that's right, when he turned into a giant ***** 5000 years ago and set himself upon the path of self-extinction.

The only species on this planet that is overpopulated is that fat; fugly; stupid; self-obsessed species with the idiot smirk on its face known as mankind.

I'd like to see the Cyclones mascot do this....... No really a tornado on there practice field would be cool.

Angry.

I thought their mascot was a red bird. Now you are telling me that it is a tornado? Which is it?

I'm so confused.
