I buy that assessment....the question of actual player "buy-in" will certainly show up favorably if this recent performance is duplicated again this week vs Minny. Play calling, personnel, emotions, execution, etc. Up to now, this team has represented Sybil.

It's a bit shocking to me to see how many people have said the word "playoff" this week in regards to Iowa, as if the Hawks actually had a legitimate shot at the playoffs prior to the season. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see it someday, but this year wasn't reality. I don't believe even a 1-loss Iowa team would have into the playoffs considering the soft schedule.

There is no way in hell that even with a 11-1 or undefeated record Iowa would be in a 4 team playoff. We'd be hosed like Oregon was when Nebby took their spot in the NC game. The powers that be would rather have a 2 loss SEC team.

Agreed.
The schedule was always going to work against Iowa if the record was stellar. Somehow, someway, the SEC will likely get 2 teams into the playoff, and then Oregon, Florida State, TCU, Ohio State and Michigan State will be fighting for the final two spots.
Three of those teams mentioned probably will not make the playoff, and those are all good teams. Two of the Power 5 conferences likely won't even be represented. Pretty tough road, especially when we're talking Iowa, whose offense is way too inconsistent and unexplosive and whose defense is far too young to be even considered close to one of the top four teams in the entire country.

Certainly agree with post...just wanted to add 2 other legitimate contenders for playoff...Notre Same and K State...but they too have some tough upcoming games to play, but if they win out, watch their stock rise, certainly over our B1G teams.

The fact that we won't even get to test your theory is a sign of failure. I'm not saying we were destined to go undefeated, but killing the dream in September is a sign that Kirk dropped the ball when he made sure CJ wouldn't have a chance to rescue the ISU or MD games.

Getting up votes from other cyfans doesn't mean you're actually contributing and they're not respecting your posts. It's the cyfan gang mentality. Cyfans are like politicians where they always vote along party lines. The difference is the politicians can fool some of the people some of the time. Cyfans aren't fooling anybody. pretty sure an undefeated Iowa team would be in a 4-team playoff, there are just 2 undefeated teams left in CFB power 5 conf with 5 games to play. Iowa would have wins over currently ranked WI, NE and either MSU or OSU either of which will be ranked in top 10 by B1G CG.
