The charge call on Marble was TOTAL bullsheet!! wtf was official looking at??

If we had lost by one, maybe this is a crucial call. I think it was as charge, but thats just me. However, Ill never buy into the argument that these athletes are so mentally weak that one "bad" call makes them play worse from that point on and swings the whole game. This is college basketball, being at home matters more than any sport. You will get some bad calls, you move on and overcome it.

Live I thought the call was ********, but on the replay, I could see where the official could call that an offensive foul. He jumped right into the guy

Marble dropped his shoulder slightly, then forced himself into the defender.

Correct call.
How can a guy take off on a drive without "dropping his shoulder"?? Hands down the worst call I've seen this season. Not the reason Iowa lost. But horrendous call just the same.

I think we'll see more expansion on replay rules and allow the coaches to have (for example) 2 challenge replays per game to be reviewed by a replay official. They use it in the NFL and why not other sports. I like what Belichick said about replay.
" “When you have two challenges, I don’t see anything wrong with the concept of ‘you can challenge any two plays that you want,’†Belichick said. “I understand that judgment calls are judgment calls, but to say that an important play can’t be reviewed, I don’t think that’s really in the spirit of trying to get everything right and making sure the most important plays are officiated properly.â€

You need to watch a few more games....

What I was thinking as well. Heck, there were worse calls just in this game. For example, the forearm to the chest that Uthoff took going up for a dunk was much more blatant and a no-brainer in my opinion. At best, the Marble call was 50/50 and you just aren't going to get those calls on the road very often.

Just a lot of momentum killing calls/no-calls. Like the no call when Uthoff got tackled at the rim and the same thing happened with Olaseni the next trip. Basabe gets slapped at the rim in the last few min. Moving screen on McCabe, Marble’s charge. Morgan’s and 1. Couple questionable 50/50 out of bounds calls. Hand-checking all the way down the court.

You are both right. I have no business giving my opinion on a ref's call until I've seen enough games.
How many should I watch?

Dude, don't take $hit so personal. You threw out the statement that the charge call on Marble was "the worst call I've seen all season". A lot of posters, myself included, might question how much basketball you've actually watched this season if that call, out of all the calls made so far this season, ended up on your "worst call of the season" list.

If you don't want to get questioned on your comments, don't put them out there. Otherwise, be prepared to have them challenged or questioned. But for cryin' out loud, don't see every comment that doesn't agree with you as a personal attack. Geesh.

This is all true, there were some very questionable calls and non-calls, the refs in this league are just very poor and inconsistent.

It is no wonder my son and his friends go ape 'sheet' when they watch the B1G games.

I have long ago even given up on the idea that games will be well officated, at least in this league.

Oh, ok, got it. I should not take stuff personally. Got it.

You might want to look in the mirror.

I've played the game since Jr high, played at the DIII level (mostly from the bench) and been a head coach at the high school varsity level. I've seen enough games to know a bad call thank you very much.

Geesh

That sounds like a good resume. I will look for your future posts.

Maybe they go ape "sheet", as you say, because that's the behavior they've observed from you. Just a thought.

I take it that you didn't watch the Battle for Atlantis Tourney, eh?
