The Big 12 is Dead

Pollard and GG are spear-heading a lot right now, thats all Ill say on a message board.

Assuming that I believe you have "inside information," do you think the Big 12 is indeed dead, or is Pollard spear-heading an effort to save the conference?? And you will have to forgive my ignorance, I can not figure out who GG is? Maybe I'm tired.

Retaining the Big 12 but changing the conference to an equal revenue sharing model is step one. If that doesnt work and OU and OSU leave I fully expect some sort of merger with the Big East.

"merger" with the Big East? That's a nice way of putting it.

The best moves for Iowa State College (the constitutionally correct nsme) would be to join the Missouri Valley. Yes, FCS. I used to think Pioneer, but I'll give them the benefit of a doubt.

Yes I have heard a lot of the equal revenue sharing talk at the end of last week, but everything I am seeing now is OU and OSU are all but gone as soon as A&M are officially a part of the SEC. Texas is trying to figure out what to do next; maybe Pac 12 or maybe even try to get into the Big 10. I think the Big East is the best chance for ISU right now.

I would welcome a Big12/Big East merger even without OU and OSU in a heartbeat. Would be great competition for ISU.

I wonder where Missouri ends up in all of this. I guess they are holding some double secret meeting with double secret agenda items. Maybe SEC? Although the SEC says they have no immediate plans to add a 14th, then again Pac 12 was happy at 12 but it seems OU and OSU are on there way. You can't really believe anything anyone says. So this "merger" would be K-State, KU, Baylor, and ISU "merging" with the Big East? Who knows what will happen with Texas Tech and Texas???

I don't know about a merger, certainly that has been discussed, but I do think that more and more conferences will look at the Big 10 model of revenue sharing and realize it is truly the only way to stability. Invariably schools will seek out equal revenue opportunity to create the best situation for competitiveness. Not sure where Iowa State ends up in all of this but it will be interesting.

How long until the dissolving of the Big XII has a detrimental effect on recruiting? Other coaches will be quick to point that out to potential recruits.

Actually the correct name is Iowa State University of Science and Technology. It just doesn't fit well on a jersey.

The funny thing now is it seems to be all coming down to OU. If they can convince OU to stay, we'll have full revenue sharing for the first 2 tiers as a conference, get BYU for A&M, and I'm assuming sign what is an incredibly punative agreement to remain in the conference. The problem it looks like OU is gonzo, and with it, the Big 12. I would be lying to say I'm not concerned. But I am hopeful. I think the chances of ISU landing in a good conference like the Big East is 50/50. I wish they were better but that is the reality of the situation.

You do realize ISU just beat us, right?

It's hard to believe that a Cyclone fan such as yourself doesn't have better things to do than post over 3,000 times on a Hawkeye board. But hey, keep douching it up, man!

Actually my goal is to try to stop all of this nonsense. STOP TALKING ABOUT ISU. I'm so bored with it that I've turned to picking on posters that won't shut up about it. So if everyone would stop with the "we don't care about the cyclones", but then every other post is either by a clone or about the clones in every thread on this board it would be a lot better. But hey, keep douching it up so I can keep douching it up! It's pretty fun!

Texas for one is not leaving the Big 12 and neither is ISU. The Big 12 may be rebranded if OU leaves but it will still be a semblance of the Big 12 and merge with the Big East and add a BYU. In my opinion, OU is going no where and is only pushing their agenda to get their own network or split up the LHN to be more of a conference network.

Beating Iowa does not add television sets for isu. The clown fan base will never grow any larger than it currently is. They would only dilute the profits of any conference they join. They have a tiny fan base that is basically limited to central Iowa.

In the end this will not be based on TVs you can count on that.
