The Big 12 is Dead

I'm not sure what you're driving at here;

ISU has played major conference football as long it has existed. From the Mo Valley to the Big Six, 8 and XII, ISU has been in power conferences.

You do realize that Iowa's first varsity game was against Grinnell and that Iowa occupied the Mo Valley (with ISC) when it was a power conference, right? If your argument is that ISU hasn't been in power conferences from the beginning you're wrong.

The mo valley didn't exist until 1907 therefore isu has not been playing cfb in a major confirm "since the 1800s " sorry but ISUer has issues with honesty and embellishment.

That's true (and neither was Iowa) but ISC was playing major college programs like Iowa and NW. The point is that ISU has been and will continue to be in a major CFB conference going forward.

Best case scenario Big East

Realistically CUSA or MAC

No you don't choose the point of my posts. The point was that isuer has issues with telling tall tales. It will be fun to watch the wailing and knashing when cusa comes to fruition. I will be thinking of isuer when it happens.

I was talking about his post internet tough guy. I don't really see the "tall tale" here.

1. ISC was playing major college football teams before 1900 like many teams before the advent of conferences. The same is true for Iowa.

2. ISC was included in a major conference before 1910, ISUer is a decade off which hardly makes him a liar. (bad math, research skills maybe)

I'm sorry about your ISU demotion boner but it's simply not going to happen. ISU will keep it's AQ.

I don't have a dog in this hunt, but, from the outside looking in, even if you currently are in an AQ conf., if Div. 1 goes to 4-16 team conferences, you will not be guaranteed a spot. What happens to ND? BYU? texa$$?

Teams like Vandy or even Purdue might get removed for a more powerful program. Teams like ISU and Baylor will be lucky to keep their AQ status, if they can.

Very lucky.

4-16 team conferences is a media creation. What makes people think that conferences will stop at 16 teams? Government interjection will increase conference sizes well over 16. There has been actually more out there to suggest 18-20 team conferences. Some good stuff here from Chris Williams, Chadd Scott, Kristi Dosh, from About

CF: Iowa State has been a player in a major conference for over a century. At this point, the future is unknown and every scenario that a person can think of is hypothetical. But if indeed the future of college athletics is going to four 16-team conferences, do you feel like the Cyclones will be a part of one? If yes, which one and why?
CS: I’m not sold on four 16-team super conferences. Anyone willing to compete at the highest level (in terms of finances – which probably means being willing to fund up to cost of attendance for student athletes even if it means operating the athletic department at a huge deficit) is going to be given that opportunity either as an independent or possibly in a new conference that doesn’t exist yet. If Iowa State is committed to playing BCS football, it will. It’ll probably be in a new conference that’s some sort of mixture of ex-Big 12 and ex-Big East schools. The idea that 64 is a magic number and as soon as it’s met no one else is included – where does that come from? It’s a media creation.
KD: I asked Arizona AD Greg Byrne about why the discussion focuses on 16-team conferences. Speaking in general, and not about any current or future plans of the Pac-12, he said he thinks it’s mostly about ease of scheduling. He also noted 16 is probably what it takes to get the full geographic footprint a conference might want if they’re committed to expanding.
I think Chadd’s right that 16 comes from the media. Four 16-team super conferences sets the stage for a four-team playoff system. Is it grounded in reality? I don’t think so. A playoff isn’t going to magically spring up simply because conference alignment changes.
None of this has really answered your question though. If the move was to four 16-team super conferences, no, I don’t think Iowa State makes it in. The driving force in conference realignment these days is media market, and I don’t think Des Moines makes the cut. Although there are plenty of schools in other conferences who shouldn’t be members by that standard, once you’re in, you’re in. They got in a long time ago when media market wasn’t the driving factor and will get to stay.

No they wont mr Internet tough guy

Nobody knows who will end up where, but the Big 12 seems to be on it's death bed. A&M will go to the SEC and then it's time to buckle up. To pretend to know where ISU ends up in all of this is silly. I'm sure they have plans but who knows what will happen when everything shakes out. We all have seen how quickly things can change.
