I'm sure a lot of you know about the "Bottom 10" over on ESPN.com, which ranks CFB's best football teams. And by best, I do mean worst.
The latest Bottom 10 got me thinking, however, about these teams and the Big 10. Take a look at the most recent week's rankings and see if you can figure out what I'm talking about...
Bottom 10: "Caddyshack," Carl Spackler and unwanted gophers - ESPN
No...it isn't that 1-3 Minnesota is currently ranked #5 (which is the spot reserved for FBS teams that sucked particularly hard the week before, as somebody else had mentioned in another thread).
Still nothing?
I'm talking about the fact that Eastern Michigan, Western Kentucky, San Jose State, Akron, FAU, Ball State and Ohio were ALL on the Big Ten non-conference schedules. Indiana got the benefit of playing Western Kentucky and Akron. OSU played Ohio and Eastern Michigan. Wisconsin played San Jose State, while MSU played FAU and we played Ball State.
As for teams in the "Waiting List" category, we've played (or will play) several of them as well (Arkansas State, Bowling Green, Rice, Marshall, and UNLV). Previous weeks also saw the likes of Toledo, Vanderbilt and Kent State either in the Bottom 10 or in the "Waiting List"
Certainly not a 'scientific' ranking system, but is certainly interesting. Though not as interesting as the fact that Minnesota has been on the Waiting List since week 2, and finally made it "big" this week...
