Thank you to Brian Ferentz

Not trying to hijack the thread, but Laporta just made a ridiculous catch in this playoff game.
Mighta been the catch of the year too. Left handed as he was diving horizontally. You don't see TEs do that. That kid is gonna have a monster career much like Kittle

Remember Kevin Mitchell's barehand catch out in deep left field? After that first one he did it a couple other times with lazy fly balls as a joke.

I tried that a few times in high school practices and I learned real quick I ain't Kevin Mitchell.
That was sweet. I got pretty good at catching pop-ups behind my back or in my hat while throwing BP on the field. 2 years ago it hit the base of my thumb and I realized how stupid that was. You'd think that would be enough for me to stop.

Used to own a VHS tape that was just baseball highlights from those days and yeah he was in a full sprint into the left field corner when he realized he took the wrong angle at the end and just reached back desperately with bare hand. Don't think I've seen it happen twice. Not like that.

Love those days. Times were simpler.

I had a VHS that was all Ozzie Smith defensive highlights. That guy was a ninja out there.

There's something to be said for maintaining youthful stupidity.

I loved nothing more than being at practice in my mid 40s getting shit from players for being old, and then taking a round of BP showing a lot of them up. I don't have what would be considered power anymore, but I can still go oppo on demand and put the ball in the gaps. Most of my guys didn't grow up with parents who practiced with them when they were little so it doesn't take a whole lot. Just enough to shut 'em up and you have to remind them you know what you're talking about once in a while.

I don't get kids these days. We have an Iron Mike on a remote control that's open and available to them everyday till sundown. If I had that in high school you would've had to drag me out of there kicking and screaming, especially on weekends. It's fun.

No doubt I was a kid. It almost should seem odd I remember that but I do. I can still hear the voices of the guys calling it in my head. I probably watched it 100 times. Wish I could remember the name of the video or hell still had it.
