Take the thug ball back to Champaign, Groce

He's just the latest bum to try and bring ugly mid major garbage ball to a major conference.

its so called "tough D " but it's really just straight up constant fouling and daring the refs to call it.

Well stated. This is it. Shows serious deficiencies in basketball fundamentals. Can't coach. Can only teach players how to rough house and challenge the refs to call it. He would be better off coaching in some street ball league in the heart of Chicago.,

I predicted that ILL would come in and try to physically attack Iowa's finesse players. It "sort of" worked in the first half. When we went on that 9 min. no field goals stretch, we were going up and anticipating getting fouled. ILL should have had two players thrown out of the game. Groce should have been T'd up twice and asked to leave CHA. The gutless wonders who officiated the game are part of a long line of genetic misfits. I was happy that Fran took a shot at Groce early on and later in his press conf. when he mentioned that "gee, it was a physical game and ILL had 10 fouls in the first 10 min of the first half." Everyone I sit around said the same thing: ILL players were told to come in and foul the sh>> out of Iowa to start the game. We showed them in the second half that we were NOT going to be intimidated and actually fouled them pretty hard the first 5 minutes of the second half. Good job, Hawks. (I think Adam W. kind of liked it)

Groce fits right into the B1G unfortunately, as this is B1G BB now.

This will probably be a minority opinion, but - for better or worse - I really didn't see much last night that was uncharacteristic of a late season B10 game. The B10 tends to be on the rough side to begin with and college refs in general seem to get less whistle-happy as the season wears on, so it is what it is.

Once it's clear the refs are going to tolerate some rough stuff, it's up to you as a player/team to decide if you're going to wilt (like we did against NW, who I felt was very rough & the Hawks either had no interest or ability to match it), or if you're going to lace up your Nike's a notch tighter and go blow for blow with the other fellas (like we did last night, which was glorious to behold!)
