Story: Coaches on Recruiting Trail, Watching TN RB

Eno knew he wasn't to take visits, but he wanted to take a couple so he did. I think when asked he said no he didn't go. I don't think he felt he was doing anything wrong, I don't think he even make those visits because he is super interested in Mizzu or ASU. I don't think he felt not saying anything should matter. Heck me might think it isn't the coaches call if he makes visits and he doesn't owe them telling them everything he does. All of these are fine and valid if you aske me.

So you're sure this is how it went down?

Nope, I have said time and time and time again I don't know what happened. Never called the kid a liar, never roasted the kid, or anything of the sort. I am simply saying I don't blame the staff and I certainly don't think it was a matter of him taking a simple visit to Mizzu. I know you think this as well, as you said so yourself that others have taken visits and you don't think they cut bait just because of that.

Ok Bernie.

Sorry but here in the real world, people get treated different. For example, some people get paid way above average in their industry for producing average results.

Cool story brah. I just understand why the staff felt like maybe they don't want to rely on Eno being at Iowa come signing day. Reality seems to piss many off, especially Bernie Sanders.

I'm not saying anything about Eno, I'm talking about media and fans and coaches who think "special treatment" for the elite is not only fine, but expected.

Special treatment of elites is how the world works. Because you can't do everything for everyone, you do it for those that deserve what you are doing for them. In recruiting, that's not Parkersburg's tailback. It's the elite TB that helped you to recruit others and talked up your program to the rest of the country.

I don't literally mean everyone is the same. Good lord you people are freaking crazy.

Fair enough. As long as you're not presenting it as a fact that's what went down. Because you're right. We don't know both sides of this story. And I would hope that if someone was spreading something negative about us that he would have the decency to get our side before leveling a charge at us.

How can anyone possibly say I'm presenting this as fact when I have said probably 10 times I or we don't know what happened. I have an opinion of what I think happened but in no way am I saying that is anything other than
My educated opinion.

Plus let me say again there are a ton of legitimate reasons for Eno to not tell the staff, he isn't beholden to them, and I don't think Eno is supposed to bow down to our or any staff.

Who doesn't lie from time to time? Everyone at one point is a liar if you wanna make it sound harsh.

He is 17 I'm not killing Eno on this, I'm just saying I understand why the coaches did what they did.

Now go ahaead and spin away in what I am saying.

Here's the thing, I get why the staff did what they did and I am ok with it as long as you want Iowa to continue to be a 7 win team with occasional outlier up or down. If you want to recruit with the big boys, you can't be afraid to play the game

But maybe he did communicate to the staff that he was taking visits. He hasn't defended himself from the charge of being a liar.

And I don't read every post in every thread. I just don't have the time. I have read individual posts where it reads like you're questioning his honesty. That's why I asked him my first post of this discussion.

cubs are up 2-0 how can I be angry? :)

Eno isn't going to be what changes us from being a 7 win team, but if that makes you feel better, by all means believe that.

Who called him a liar? He doesn't owe the staff anything. I haven't heard anyone call him a liar, but that doesn't mean he was totally upfront with the staff either, and that is what some have reported.

He won't. But turning a 12-0 season into a recruiting class on par with Iowa state is beyond terrible. And getting bad pub with a lot of the high end recruits and TX schools is not gonna help either.

I assume you can document this statement? Or, is this an assumption you are making to further your argument? This is not about trust. It is about Iowa coaches doing what is best for the program. If a verbal commit is looking, then so should Iowa. Eno should decommit so we can move on.

Dean said we pulled the offer with Eno because he lied and we didn't trust him

This isn't what happened. He was taking visits and was telling the staff he wasn't taking visits. The staff found out about the first one, he denied it, the staff overlooked it and reminded him to NOT take visits. He went off and took another visit, denied it again, and the staff knew full well he had taken 2 visits at this point.

Tk, 56, and many others on here think this is OK, that the staff should just accept the fact that Eno has now mislead them about 2 visits he took. Not only didn't tell them, but told them they never took place. Yep, just bury your head in the sand and do anything to keep the 4* kid happy is their philosophy......

You never called him a liar Dean? This post disagrees

Good God man, is this what you tell your kids? Treat them one way while trying to entice them into making one of the most important decisions they will make.....yet once they get here treat them in another manner entirely? IE we will overlook anything before you get here, but we will slam down a hammer on you once you are here. LOL, You either don't care WTF they do, or you do care....before or after they are here.

The staff isn't being unreasonable, that is the strawman you and other are presenting here. They are upfront with recruits and tell them this is what they expect. If they want to take other visit by all means do so, but not after you commit to Iowa. Not only that but they did give the kid a second chance, they understand that everyone makes mistakes. Yet when you do the exact same thing again after given a second chance it shows it wasn't a "mistake" but rather a pattern. Fool me once, shame on you.....Fool me twice, shame on me.....

This is where you said his lying isn't a mistake it's a pattern

People are less than truthful or misleading for lots of reason. This is even more true of 17 year olds. If you wanna say he is a liar for [doing this, those are your words not mine.

Eno doesn't owe Iowa anything, if he wants to take a visit and not tell the coaches that is his right. The Iowa coaches are also free to decide to cut a kid loose.

Now feel free to continue on with your straw man arguments and meltdown over the whims of a 17 year old...

Here is what you just said an hour ago:

"I have said time and time and time again I don't know what happened. Never called the kid a liar, never roasted the kid, or anything of the sort."

But earlier today you said this:

"This isn't what happened. He was taking visits and was telling the staff he wasn't taking visits. The staff found out about the first one, he denied it, the staff overlooked it and reminded him to NOT take visits. He went off and took another visit, denied it again, and the staff knew full well he had taken 2 visits at this point."

So which is it?

I think he denied taking a visit to the staff, that is what I said. I also said there are lots of reason to do that/say that. If you think that makes him a liar, that is your opinion, not mine. I would bet the staff has also said things to Eno that were less than truthful and or misleading. I also don't think that makes them liars, but that is just me.

Just think it's weird you were sure he lied to this staff and said it like a fact not like an opinion, then said you said you didn't know what happened and now are saying you think he lied to the staff as an opinion. Just pick a side
