Story: Coaches on Recruiting Trail, Watching TN RB

Is this serious?
You would have to ask him where he got the info? Have you ever gotten info and passed it along without contributing it? Nevermind, I know you have.

Once again are you saying he was putting forth information that he was either making up, or lying about?

Your eminence doesn't like being questioned by the peasantry.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, who else in the Hawkeye Universe is like that??

Yes. It's serious. If you're going on messages boards and calling a high school kid deceitful and a liar I figured you would make sure you're absolutely sure he did those things.

Yep, right now they have time to nab another good RB.....if they waited they would be stuck with another E. Graham on signing day.

LOL if you think they're going to get anything other than a crappy 2 star RB at this point (or maybe if they're lucky a really lowly 3 star with MAC offers) then I have some beachfront property in Arizona to sell you. The Eno loss is big and we aren't getting anyone good to fill that spot. I'm so tired of the Kirk defenders who won't ever admit that he did something wrong or isn't measuring up in certain areas.

Sorry but I think it's a load of BS that Eno lied about going on those visits. This is 2016 not 1996. You can't do anything these days without a million people knowing it. Eno would have to be the biggest idiot on the planet to go on those visits where thousands of fans will see him and then claim he wasn't there. Come on man.

I told you where I heard it, I said Tom Kakart said it, and he laid out what he was told happened on his Podcast, go listen to it yourself.

Once again, are you claiming that Tom is making up his info? I'm not sure why you are getting ticked at me for this, as you do the same things. You hear information from all over the place and you pass it on. You do it both contributed and un contributed. Jon has done the same thing in the past, as a matter of fact saying point blank he wouldn't say who his source was, only that he trusted the source. This is very typical when reporting on recruiting and you know it.

Really, when did the story break that Eno officially visited Missouri then?

I don't know who lied or if anyone lied at all. What I know is Eno went on 2 visit that went unreported by EVERYONE for several weeks. If you think that means he was openly doing it, then fine you can believe what you want, and I will believe what I want.

I feel the exact same way about the haters. It is like if you don't dump on KF non stop all the time, then you are an "apologist" or love KF more than Iowa. We know very little to nothing about what happened, yet you are willing to place this all at KF feet.

I'm definitely not one to dump on KF all of the time. However, I'm also not going to give him a pass for consistently losing to inferior teams and failing on the recruiting trail. I'm not okay with 6-6 and 7-5 seasons.

I'm the only one who can see the point.

You and I just differ on acceptable behavior. I think the coaches were reasonable when they gave Eno a second chance after the Missouri visit and subsequent misleading about it. The coaches were ok with giving him a second chance, they understand that kids make mistake. Yet when he does it again, just a few weeks later, and the subsequent misleading yet again, where do you draw the line? Obviously you and 56 and other feel it is ok to give special treatment to Eno because he is a "life changing" recruit......Others like me feel that is what leads to toxic environments like Penn St. and Baylor where it foster the attitude of "just look the other way".

Taking visits equals covering up multiple sexual assaults and a serial pedophilic rapist? Come on Dean.

You know what really led to those situations? Nobody in the media, community, fanbase, or university held either of the head coaches accountable at Baylor or Penn State. Sound familiar?

I think it's stupid to pull an offer from any recruit of Eno's caliber. It makes no sense and don't throw the "trust" thing at me. We've pulled offer's from kids that were committed to us because we didn't think they were good enough to play here

I assume you can document this statement? Or, is this an assumption you are making to further your argument? This is not about trust. It is about Iowa coaches doing what is best for the program. If a verbal commit is looking, then so should Iowa. Eno should decommit so we can move on.

Totally agree with you here.6-6 and 7-5 don't cut it. That isn't what we are talking about here

This isn't what happened. He was taking visits and was telling the staff he wasn't taking visits. The staff found out about the first one, he denied it, the staff overlooked it and reminded him to NOT take visits. He went off and took another visit, denied it again, and the staff knew full well he had taken 2 visits at this point.

Tk, 56, and many others on here think this is OK, that the staff should just accept the fact that Eno has now mislead them about 2 visits he took. Not only didn't tell them, but told them they never took place. Yep, just bury your head in the sand and do anything to keep the 4* kid happy is their philosophy......

Yes. It's called sales. You should never make it difficult for the customer to pay you. You also cover your rear end by lining up another RB, and double down on his friends he helped to recruit for you.

I don't think you should let him have free reign, but just like big customers with fat wallets get special treatment, special recruits get special treatment. No, not everyone was created equal. Egalitarianism and competitive sports so rarely go hand in hand that we call it out as a special level of sportsmanship when it happens, and Iowa has enough natural challenges that it doesn't need to further hamper itself with made up rules.

Do whatever it takes to win within the rules of the game.

I agree, fans, media and coaches that turn a blind eye and give special treatment to players foster a sense of entitlement that can then infect the whole culture of the football program. I think the last thing KF would do is give preferential or special treatment to his players.

I'm not getting ticked. I'm asking you if you know that the kid is a liar and deceitful. Those are serious charges to make of someone and you seem to be saying it in various threads of this board. I'm asking if you're sure that Eno lied to the coaches. You said he took visits without the coaches knowing. Are you absolutely, positive of this charge?

You know very little to nothing yet you call a 17 year old a liar. That's weird

Unless they are a good story

Who doesn't lie from time to time? Everyone at one point is a liar if you wanna make it sound harsh.

Eno knew he wasn't to take visits, but he wanted to take a couple so he did. I think when asked he said no he didn't go. I don't think he felt he was doing anything wrong, I don't think he even make those visits because he is super interested in Mizzu or ASU. I don't think he felt not saying anything should matter. Heck me might think it isn't the coaches call if he makes visits and he doesn't owe them telling them everything he does. All of these are fine and valid if you aske me.

He is 17 I'm not killing Eno on this, I'm just saying I understand why the coaches did what they did.

Now go ahaead and spin away in what I am saying.

There's a difference in visiting a college program and breaking the law while hurting people. And covering it up. It's a far leap between taking advantage of a few free vacations and raping someone. Iowa is right to be suspicious that Eno may have bailed late anyway -- everybody wants goo running backs. Cover your butt by recruiting someone else, but don't pull the schollie on your lynchpin recruit until he actually bails. Because the whole class could unravel now.

Losing Eno as a back, whatever. Losing all the Texas recruits that followed him here -- unrecoverable.

Players and coaches need to be held accountable for their actions, but ou can look the other way on recruiting visits I think, but not on criminal actions. Up until he got outed, everybody thought JoePa was a saint. There are shades of accountability.

I'm not saying anything about Eno, I'm talking about media and fans and coaches who think "special treatment" for the elite is not only fine, but expected.
