Stephanie: She was a gymnast in the ’80s at Iowa. She’s glad her performance wasn’t responsible for the morale of the state, Iowa City and UI. Glad when she fell that she didn’t get booed. Really broke my heart.(all the negative calls on call-in shows and booing in the stands)- She actually stopped her car and drove into Carlos O’Kelly’s to get on the mic and let her feelings be known. Impressive.

KF mentioned she had the best comments probably in 14 years of Hawk Talk....have some perspective people....STEP BACK FROM THE LEDGE..........and try not to have such a short memory....the Ferentz years have been probably the best years in Iowa history...(maybe even better than Fry's) -- how about 3 consecutive seasons finishing 8th in the polls???

No one is complaining about those the years, they are complaining about the current state of Iowa football. You know, where's MAC team comes into Kinnick and steals a game on unforgivable fashion. Where a disgraced and decimated PSU comes here and humiliates a team coached by a multi millionaire. Where a fifth year senior QB looks for all the world like a Middle School player. These are some of the things people are complaining about, not three years from a decade ago.
 
Yup College football should be dandelions and camp fire circles. We should give KF a raise and give him the keys to every door. When a person refuses to do their job and gives a pathetic effort...in the real world that person is fired. A real coach wouldn't be sooo selfish and bull headed.
 
football fans in general and fans who post on message boards in particular, can be assumed to lack perspective. Why else would we be on this forum?

Watching your favorite team win is an addictive experience - it produces euphoria not easily found elsewhere. Watching your favorite team come up short produces pain, dis ease. A need to vent, place blame and otherwise a pound of flesh can be eased by posting here. It feels like an injustice has been perpetrated on the fan when the team loses. The fan screams at the sky and asks why. Ferentz gives honest answers but they are not enough.

I wouldn't call PSU decimated. They have good players and have been playing very well. That doesn't excuse the way we played, but they are going to win more games this year. We are not the only ones in the B1G that are struggling and not the only ones to lose to PSU or a smaller conference school. Remember this is the conference that lots of people were claiming is worse than MAC, so anything can happen for the Hawks down the stretch.

Great post. Finally someone on here admits that PSU is actually a good team.

I know. Ferentz went into the season only willing to maximize 25% of each player's potential. What a bum.

They also have some good players. Allen Robinson is a stud, McGloin has flourished in the new scheme, and they're tailback was pretty good. And the defense is loaded; just downright nasty.

Penn State is the best team in the Big Ten this year.

They absolutely do suck this year..probably recruiting, coaching, and everything plays in to it and this is what Commander Kurt has sewn..a NOT very good team. I believe KF and his staff are RESPONSIBLE for that. This first person's post is moronic. NO ONE DESERVES A LIFETIME CONTRACT! If I hear one more idiot claiming look at the past 12 years I'm going to scream. Look where I work if I have 3 bad years in a row I'm gone...and I'm not CEO of a company like KF is.

Only at a school like Iowa could a coach live this long off of something that happened a decade ago. The kids who are high school seniors now weren't even 10 years old when Kurt was doing that, the two top 25 finishes in the 8 years since are a lot more concerning at this point.

Sums up my thoughts exactly. KF has used up all of his good will from 2002-04. Frankly, I am sick of talking about how great those years were, because it means we don't have a lot to brag about in the years since. I'll grant you the last half of 2008, and 2009, but that's about it.
