Pretty underwhelming....

Looks like we had a few new moves for the spring anyway:

Very underwhelming. We are in trouble. Someone tell me if you have ever seen a less talented starting line up than this in the last twenty years?

How many FB's do we need? Is it a 1:1 ratio to RB? I know a lot of those guys may not be scholarship players....but it just seems like a lot. Imagine if we cut the FB out of our offense and used more players for the skill position?

Holy Hell! I think i might take this season off and spend my time following the Volleyball team.

We've had years with less talent than this. Plus, the schedule is filled with teams with less talent. Will they have any enthusiasm at all this fall?

Seriously, 6 fullbacks on an 85 man roster? Tack on 6 or so kickers and punters, and we are looking at a cluster f$#@ in roster management.

Look at all the walk ons on the two deep? That shows a cluster f$#@ in recruiting misses.

Then you have the explanation for promoting Brian to run coordinator..."it's mainly just a title." So rather than fixing last year's significant coaching problems, he just added a footnote to Brian's resume for when he applies for other jobs next year. Great for the Ferentz family net worth, not so great for our football team.

On the plus side, i DO think we have a stud at QB for the next two years. It all starts with your QB. If we can develop an adequate running game, we should have a solid offense, with CJ winging the ball down the field quite a bit.

To me it's all on the Oline... If they play well I think we have a chance with that soft schedule to at least have a pretty record even if the team isn't that great. I think the skill positions will be an upgrade. I think CJ will have more big plays. I think Tevaun Smith will have a big year. The RBs should have a better year so long as the Oline plays better....(hard to say that without Scherff and Donnal that can be the case though) I think losing KMM is a good thing. Talk about a possession receiver with no big play ability last yr. I think they'll push the ball down field more and maybe they'll use the TEs more. Seemed like they got away from that last yr I thought both Hamilton and Duzey would have had bigger years. I just think with CJ and his stronger arm it'll open up the playbook for more deeper routes to be run. I think we were easy to scout and defend because there were certain routes on the route tree you knew we never ran or at least threw to due to Jakes lack of arm strength.

As far as D goes obviously losing those DTs will be key. Ott should be a stud. The LBs have to be a little better they sure couldn't be worse. And the secondary really wasn't that bad last yr and only Lowdermilk is gone from there and he was the weak link cover wise.

Now if say CJ, Smith or an Olineman or 2 get hurt for any significant time.... It can get ugly really fast.... I hope for a healthy spring and look forward to see who steps up.

eh, feels like a 7-5/6-6 football team.

I think only as underwhelming as the offensive line, CJ and the offense can go. If the offense is avg at best for KF teams that is just around 20 points a game which aint going to be enough.

Any word on Boone Myers and Ike B at tackle, did they gain weight, strength, explosiveness off the snap. the center and guards are experienced and if the tackles turn out to be B+ then I like it. If the RBs can be healthy we might have a pretty good run game with CJ's threat and ability to back up the safeties.

I cant see our defense being as good or about as good as last year which wasnt too close to 2013 unless the linebackers really step up.

Too bad for Cooper.

I find myself just not really caring. Sure, I love Iowa football, but the apathy has set in and I'm just waiting for a new coaching staff.

The only good thing about that depth chart is that it's a sure fire recipe for a coaching change shortly following the Nebby game....will be the best early Christmas present I've had in decades...thank you Santa!!!
