Spring Depth Chart

DBQHAWK • 6 hours agoAND THERE IT IS FOLKS!!!!!
that is why hawkeye football will keep sliding backwards under KF leadership.
He says it out loud and proud at pressers and he truly believes it is the way to move forward with recruits. I guarantee it will be used against the Iowa Hawkeye football program on the recruiting trail mercilessly.
WE DON'T LET FRESHMAN PLAY!!!
At Iowa they are expected to redshirt.
Quote from above....
KIRK FERENTZ: We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. I’d love to
redshirt every freshman we could, but sometimes it’s not realistic, but
in a perfect world that would be ideal.

NEWS FLASH Kirk the top recruits expect to play and most likely start immediately!!!
We are doomed on the recuiting trail with KF at the helm and by extension we are doomed on this sinking ship that is hawkeye football.
Please let KF go away!!!!

Post of the week....calling it two (2) days early

Myers is over 300 too. Honestly...I think the oline will be fine. Unless Cooper can come back..and it doesn't appear likely at this point...we are very, very thin on the dline. You lose one player and it's a free for all in the running game. We had two absolutely stud tackles and our linebackers struggled...now, you have inexperience and size issues, that doesn't help the LB's. Wow...unless Bower, Jewell and Neiman put on 15 pounds each...we are in trouble. These guys played at 220 last year max...I don't believe the weights the put on the program. They can play in space...but the stuff coming right at them is a struggle to take on blocks and pinch things down. We are however, the whitest team in america.

I really like this group of players. The o-line will be better than what people think they will be. There is lots of experience on offense coming back. The TEs are very good. RB has a lot of depth and talent. Adam Cox is back at FB I like the way he plays. 3 very experienced receivers are back. Andrew Stone will surprise some people. He has some serious wheels.

I like the defense too. Experience at DEs, the tackles are ready to step up. The linebackers are set to make a big step forward as sophomores. Aaron Mends moving from FB will help this group a lot. Iowa also returns 3 DBs and Miles Taylor is going to be a good one. Iowa also returns the kicker and punter.

Teams that return 7 defensives plus the kicker and punter have a high percentage of winning more games as Iowa does.

Maybe. they may even have more talent, maybe less brains, but more talent.
There's probably more talent at WR, and punter but all other positions I'd favor Iowa. As far as brains you nailed it. At least 364 days a year the brains are with Iowa but for some inexplicable reason we lose our brains when it comes to playing a football game against a poor JUCO team from Ames.

I'm actually a little surprised Stone is still at Iowa. My IC sources where telling me he was looking to graduate this May and head to FSU as a 5th year transfer as they don't have quite the WR depth/talent as Iowa does. I still wouldn't be surprised if Stone & Braxton Miller head down to FSU after spring ball.

Seriously, 6 fullbacks on an 85 man roster? Tack on 6 or so kickers and punters, and we are looking at a cluster f$#@ in roster management.

Look at all the walk ons on the two deep? That shows a cluster f$#@ in recruiting misses.

Then you have the explanation for promoting Brian to run coordinator..."it's mainly just a title." So rather than fixing last year's significant coaching problems, he just added a footnote to Brian's resume for when he applies for other jobs next year. Great for the Ferentz family net worth, not so great for our football team.

On the plus side, i DO think we have a stud at QB for the next two years. It all starts with your QB. If we can develop an adequate running game, we should have a solid offense, with CJ winging the ball down the field quite a bit.

You do realize that there are more than 85 players on the team, and that probably at least 8 of those 12 fullbacks, kickers and punters aren't on scholarship?

Pretty underwhelming....

Reese: This guy here is dead.

Kirk: Cross him off, then.

Let's hope this movie ends the same way.

I had not heard the Andrew Stone transfer rumors before this. All though I did not realize until the January depth chart came out that he did have another year of eligibility. It is good to see him back and working his way up the depth chart. He does remind me a little of Ryan Barton. They are fun players to watch.

My money is still on Brandon Snyder securing the strong safety spot. He fits Ferentz's mold for a "good story," and I think he would actually live up to that billing.
