Question regarding Spievey during one of his few not-so-great moments this season, and also directly related to his draft stock:
On the first play of the game where he got torched by Powell against PSU, did anyone expect to see maybe a little more speed in running Powell down from behind? Or even start gaining on him as they approached the end zone? I didn't really see either happening...
I guess what I'm getting at is that it doesn't seem that Spievey might have the best top-end, straight line speed, but his hip swivel and quickness make up for that. Plus he's really heady and like most Iowa CB's, he tackles like a safety.
But I'm interested in hearing you guys' takes on that PSU play...
Spievey (along with Sash) bit on the play-action and froze for just a split second, which was more than long enough for Powell to get clear of both of them. When Powell caught it, he was at least 5 yards in front of Amari.
When you think about it, it was a great call on Penn State's part.
