He was probably devastated by VB's upset loss, and he cannot bear to stay in a place that brings back such haunting memories.

I would move on, if I were Nebbie. In this era of pay for play, I don't think you can tie up too much in one player unless he is an unquestioned difference maker. What is the WAR for Raiola vs. the freshman QB we faced? Probably not enough to justify tying up such a large % of their "cap."

I think the rumor about Mizzou was more he would be closer to his trainer, which is Mahomes' trainer as well...go figure. Texas Tech...well, for the obvious story line.

I don't think he is back at Nebraska. The statement I read said he was seeking a program where he can thrive and reach his potential. I would imagine that a big bag of $$ wouldn't hurt either, LOL

I just don't see another school giving him significantly more money, but who knows. I see Sorsby from Cincinnati is testing the waters too. Now, I wouldn't mind him chatting with Iowa.

I agree. The only teams that can pay that sort of money for one guy are the real players like OSU and Georgia. And, from what he has shown at Nebbie, he would not be a clear upgrade over what they have.

The portal is fickle. When you enter it because you had a really hot season and are showing upside and that you have outgrown the level you are playing at, that's when you get a raise. Sometimes a big one. Like Gron.

When you enter the portal because you have been underperforming your previous assignment and are looking for a new home to try and reset, the market is not so hot.

He should still get 7 figures somewhere, but he needs to look for a second tier school, where there is a high probability he is the starter when he walks on campus, and with a coach or OC with a track record of developing QBs for the next level. Honestly, a school like Iowa is a reasonable choice with Tim Lester there, but again, never gonna happen. But, that is the type of opportunity he should be looking for.

Nah that ship has sailed. His uncle is a complete flop the entire time he was at nebraska and no program is going to fire their OL coach to hire that lump.
