I think brownlee would be putting some pretty good numbers on this years team. he just had to back up horner and a very good iowa team. this team is crap and they need him to play a LITTLE bit. 5-10 minutes. i mean with all the TV timeouts it is tough to get that tired. I understand pulling for teaching. but bring him out, yell at him and tell him what he did wrong and put him back in there to get the experience so it helps in the future.

Having a bad team around you doesn't give you a over 2:1 assist/TO ratio, as Lick has. If anything, it makes it harder to get assists. His shot's been off the past couple of games... but before that he was one of our best shooters. Other than the shooting slump I don't see what problem people have with his play. He's had stretches where he's carried us.
Wrong, lil lick is not even close to the player Peterson was, and is not as good of a point guard that Davis was....the difference between them is he is the coaches son so daddy gives him the benefit of the doubt in everything.
if you only average 10 minutes a game then i hope you have a better assist to to ratio otherwise you really should not be playing. it is not that hard to pass the ball around the arc and have someone hit a couple 3's to get your assist. I think he has done a nice job when he has been in there but i only want to see him for 5 to 10 minutes. i disagree with your original post talking about he is better than most former walk ons and j pete and j davis.

If it's not that hard to average a 2:1 A/T ratio, how come nobody but him is doing it? JPete had as many assists as turnovers his freshman season, and shot 27% from three. Jermain Davis had a 1.4 ratio and shot 25% from three. In fact, John Lickliter has a higher A/T ratio than any Hawkeye for as far back as ESPN's stats go, which is the 2002-03 season. Is he a complete player? Of course not... but he certainly does what you want out of your backup PG.
Also, Lick is averaging 0.4 steals per game in only 12 minutes per game. He picks up more steals per minute than the guys most of us consider the team's best defenders, Gatens and May. Payne averages 0.5 steals per game, with almost three times as many minutes per game to do it in.
By the way, it IS harder to get assists when all you do is pass the ball around the arc, because the average three-point shot has less of a chance to go in (and thus become an assist) than the average two-point shot.

I can't believe how much attention lil lick is getting. I usually like the spoofs that WHO puts out on Soundoff. I missed this weeks episode and just watched. I wanted to laugh, but just feel bad for the kid. As much as people say he isn't a DI athlete and then say that since he is a DI athlete he is subject to any criticism. I just don't get it. The kid isn't on scholarship.
Anyone can see that lil lick shouldn't be getting many minutes, but Coach Lickliter hasn't overplayed him. As to several people that want to say he deserves more playing time? Let's not get into the turnover ratios while comparing other players and go crazy. I'm guessing a full game wouldn't look very good on the stat sheet.
If Tucker was around we wouldn't be talking about any of this. Just because he is coaches son doesn't mean he isn't the best option. Coach Lickliter is doing something that is pretty hard by not playing Tucker. Most coaches wouldn't have such high integrity with the chance of losing their job. Just so I'm clear I want winning to happen as much as anyone else.
I love how one game at Michigan turns the message boards into the outlet for Barta to hire the next coach. A week ago people were going hog wild about how much we were turning the corner. This entire year isn't going to be good! Next year is Lick's last chance to turn the corner if no one leaves. I really don't think that will change. We shouldn't be going after the walk-on who happens to be his son. I have no problem with criticism of Coach Lickliter who is getting paid big dollars and that comes with what he was signed to do. WIN.

for the record i was not going "hog wild" last week Ive had a stable position that the basketball being played is terrible all season. Its 2010 dude, everyone better suck it up and be able to handle a little criticism, especially anyone that is seen on a TV screen on a regular basis...

I finally watched it last night expecting it to be brutal based on what I've read. Honestly, I didn't find it that disrespectful. What it was however was awful. It literally was not in the least bit funny. A lot of what they do on there is pretty funny and I expected at least that. What a piece of trash that was. Why are people so up in arms about it? They could have really dug at him much harder.

That's where I am with it. I thought the title was clever. But other than that, it's been like all the other spoofs on SoundOff. Sub B-movie type production and writing that would make a preschool play writer look like a Pulitzer Prize winner. I'm sure the guys on SoundOff are funny in real life, but not so much in this case.
