Calling out a young man who is simply doing his best to be the "next man in" is not something I would not be proud of no matter how you label it or spin it. Do I feel Lickliter should be playing this season, No, but I have the utmost respect for his hustle and attitude much the same way I did earlier this fall when our football team had several young men step up and play the role of "next man in" at O-Line, Running Back, Cornerback, Strong Safety, etc.
Before you base your replies on the difference in talent, recruiting, depth, etc. please ask yourself if you would have the fortitude to step in to a no-win situation where the only thing you typically get from hours of sweating your tail off is several thousand fans taunting you and some clown outwardly mocking you.
If you want to bash on the Coach that is your right but I ask you to separate your frustrations with him, his system, his player substitutions, his defensive schemes, his out of bounds plays, his demeanor on the bench, his player relationships, etc. from the players themselves and continue to encourage the young men that have remained Iowa Hawkeyes to finish the season strong beginning again with Illinois this Wed.
