I think the reason that some 'fans' are so disheartened is that they have this perception that Iowa beat themselves with sloppy play (there is some truth to that) which wasn't supposed to happen this year and therefore Iowa is not as good as they thought they were. They'll come around when they see that we have a legit shot at winning the big 10. Then you can tell them how much they suck. Sounds like a win win to me.
This. I can't tell you how many people were (and still are) saying that the team isn't as good as we thought and that the best we'll do now is 9-3, blah blah blah. But think back to week 1 in the NFL. How TERRIBLE did the Colts look? They let a semi-rookie RB (spent last year on the practice squad) gash them for 200+ yards and their offense stank up the joint. Did people say Peyton Manning couldn't get the job done and start talking about the Colts going 8-8 this season? NO! Great teams have bad games, it happens in every sport at every level.
