So what will happen with Marble?

Shame on the coaches for even playing him then. They should have bit the bullet and allowed his injury to heal. He could have came back in time for the stretch run.

They should have sat him after the Michigan game, when he got hurt, for a few weeks.

That picture of the turf toe on here.....I assumed it was always the big toe,but that photo seems to show the toe next to the big toe.....I could see that not being nearly as bad as the Big Toe...wonder if Devyns is the Big Toe?

He hit 1/4 of his season total 3's in that game, that was a fluke shooting performance.

So dismiss that game because he shot the ball well?
I'm not saying it wasn't an anomaly in his game, but he was a go-to player in that game. This is what I am saying.

How can there be a competitive disadvantage?
Everyone saw Devyn on Sunday - they know he's not 100%. Yet Fran and Devyn in both interviews say he's healthy and it's an "out of sync" deal.

I could see if they were trying to use him as a decoy or do something where no one had seen him, but to continue to say he's not hurt make zero sense to me if he isn't.
I just do not get it.
This. Nobody will buy him as a decoy now, because they know he can't hurt them if they key on White right now.

And this is why I disagree with them for saying he's fine, because he's clearly not and since they are saying he's fine, posts like this are therefore going to pop up and there's little defense for the kid against it.

Very unlikely that postings on here would factor into the thought process. If they think disclosing injury could give the opponents an advantage then they aren't going to talk about it.

Teams can shut him down. Iowa has nobody else on the perimeter that warrants the attention, Gesell is getting there, but teams are taking their chances by taking Marble out of the game and making someone else beat them. It's keeping Marble uncomfortable and completely off balance offensively. Some of it has to do with injury, but I think it's more how Big 10 teams are playing him defensively.

What do you mean by attention? Big ten teams this year just play really good defense on everyone period.

OSU, MSU, Michigan Indiana and Minnesota don't need to do anything special to stop Marble.

Their starting 3 defending Marble in man to man = advantage them.

Nothing special about it.

Obviously our posts don't mean diddly to Fran. But by telling us Marble is fine, it leads to people harshly criticizing him. Because if he IS healthy, and he's playing this poorly, then he's going to be criticized a lot.

But there is no advantage to lying at this point. It's plain as day that he's well below 100% right now. Everyday schmoes like me can see it; what would make anyone feel like Bo Ryan don't/won't?

I understand that, but I said "if they think."

If they think any disadvantage happens by admitting it then why say it? Criticism has no effect on the objective of winning.

The only explanation that makes any degree of sense is if Marble is lying to Fran and saying he's okay. Any competitor wants to play, and is willing to do so through pain if necessary. If Fran accepts that, I would assume he holds Marble to the same standard as always. Which would also explain his displeasure with Devyn's play of late.

At this point, he needs to sit, regardless of what he may be telling Fran. Nobody is gameplanning with him in mind at this point, and he's not in good enough condition to take advantage of that.

And I didn't mean that criticism weighs at all into the decision. Jon merely meant that it sucks because people will criticize him for playing this poorly, and there's no real defense against it when everybody keeps saying he's physically fine.

He put up 30+ against Oregon last year, which was a ORat of well over 200+.
That's the definition of a go-to player.

That was a solid, 24 win Oregon team.

That's the definition of a player who had a good game.

This season, he's averaging under 10 points per game in conference. That is the definition of not a go-to player.

I hate to break the news, but, Marble is NOT injured. Everybody at this point in the season has bumps and bruises, but the turf toe / ankle stuff is getting old. Not to mention, why on God's green earth would Fran lie about something like this? To suggest otherwise is pure stupidity. Yes, White will probably be the focus of Mr Ryan and the rodents from Wisconsin, however, we have several guys who can and will step up, including White. White has shown signs of being a leader on this team and my money says he steps up big time at the Kohl Center tomorrow night and leads our Hawkeyes. We are on the brink of a run. Just watch.

Agree with Ghost that he is not a go to guy. Will he play better than he has of late? I think so, but that is not necessarily a ringing endorsement. 27% from the field and 21% from 3 in conference play is brutal.

Again, faulty logic.

It's not faulty logic. You want to give him a pass because he's injured. If he's going to play big minutes, and if he's going to shoot as much as he does (leads the team in shot attempts in BoneG play) he has to be held accountable for what he does on the court.

Being a go to guy in a handful of games is pretty meaningless. David Palmer was a go to player for a couple weeks

This team needs a consistent go to guy
