So what will happen with Marble?

If he has turf toe it takes 2 to 3 weeks to heal and that is with rest.

I had turf toe last summer. I rested it for a week and tried to play basketball. Then I re-aggravated it and had to sit another 2 weeks. I also hurt my left leg because I was favoring my right foot so much.

And if Willis Reed f'ed the game up, no one would say "Oh well, he was hurt. Can't criticize him for trying".

You can criticize Marble for his turnover, and other similar plays. But to make a blanket statement about him as a player (he's not a go-to guy), based on his performance while playing hurt, is not fair to him.

If Fran and Marble both say he is fine physically, then I will believe he is fine physically. He probably just got his feelings hurt for getting yelled at in the previous game. He has a tendency to not be mentally in the games all the time. Anyway, basketball is a team game. Maybe he will transfer to Iowa state, sit out next year, and then still have a year to play before turning pro.

Yeah, because being mentally out of it causes a guy to need human crutches just to get up and down from the elevated floor at Minnesota. Marble has NEVER looked this bad, not at any point in his time here. I also find it way too coincidental that his play has gotten steadily worse since his initial injury. Or were Marble's hurt feelings affecting his play almost two weeks before he was yelled at?

Why they aren't just saying he's hurt, I don't know. But it's blatantly obvious, and has been so for awhile now.

Just for the record, no one can refer to Marble as Iowa's leading scorer.
Right now that is White at 13.9 PPG.

Carry on.

He's not 100% and he's playing hurt. I have no doubt about it. I think they are just not saying that now for competitive disadvantage reasons, but the cat is out of the bag and he doesn't pass the eye test.

If he's out there playing 30 minutes a game, I think any criticism is fair. If he's too hurt to play, he shouldn't be playing. If he's too hurt to be effective, he shouldn't be playing. However, they claim he's 100%, he's playing top minutes on the roster, therefore, I think any criticism is valid.

And this is why I disagree with them for saying he's fine, because he's clearly not and since they are saying he's fine, posts like this are therefore going to pop up and there's little defense for the kid against it.

Teams can shut him down. Iowa has nobody else on the perimeter that warrants the attention, Gesell is getting there, but teams are taking their chances by taking Marble out of the game and making someone else beat them. It's keeping Marble uncomfortable and completely off balance offensively. Some of it has to do with injury, but I think it's more how Big 10 teams are playing him defensively.

How can there be a competitive disadvantage?
Everyone saw Devyn on Sunday - they know he's not 100%. Yet Fran and Devyn in both interviews say he's healthy and it's an "out of sync" deal.

I could see if they were trying to use him as a decoy or do something where no one had seen him, but to continue to say he's not hurt make zero sense to me if he isn't.
I just do not get it.

I don't think he has an injury that is affecting his performance. I think he's going through a stretch of games where the opposition is in his shirt/jock, and it's relentless. He doesn't get many good looks, especially within 12 feet of the hoop. I think he is a pretty good ball handler and assist man, so I think he should concentrate more on finding the guys that are open for better shots, and stop dribbling so much, looking to make one-on-one moves. I have a feeling he will not be in the starting lineup against the Badgers, but I do expect he'll come off the bench to contribute.

I have no other explanation for them to say he's not hurt, other than that.
