....now that you've seen what Vandy and the boyz can do in a shotgun-quasi-two-minute-drill type of offense, are you sticking to your flawed premise we were "correct" in sitting on the ball at the end of regulation in Ames?
Vandy wasn't in any sort of rhythm in the Pittsburg game either.....until he was allowed to be.
He got into a rhythm under center and out of the huddle. The first touchdown drive did NOT come out of the no huddle, or shotgun. We drove 60 yards with 3 pass plays (one was play action) and a Bullock run, and then the JVB sneak. We huddled up after ever play, and JVB didn't take one snap out of the shotgun. We ran our normal offense on that drive.....
In Kirk we trust, except when it comes to clock management, and being overly conservative.

Absolutely.
2nd and 13, at your own 18 yard line, with about a minute to go, on the road.
I'd sit on it too. I would have sat on it with Stanzi too. I think JVB is going to be better than Stanzi. Still wouldn't try the 1 minute drill on the road inside your own 20. Nope.
LOL! Absolutely, Ferentz is a great coach ... a great teacher ... and likely a tremendous colleague to his fellow coaches ... but boy does he suck when it comes to clock management!
Yep and after a failed run, it went 2nd and 13 from the 18.I forgot that they changed the rules of football for that drive. Thought we got the ball on the 21, 1st and 10, 1:17. My bad.

We dropped the KO, then incurred a penalty, so we started at our 15. Our protection that day sucked. If we attempt to pass and have 2 or 3 incompletions, we stop the clock. We punt on 4th down. Do you even remember what our kick and punt coverage LOOKed like that day? Our how awful some of JVBs throws were?
I'm all for airing it out on the first play of the drive, or a good play-action, but throw it downfield. Short and medium passes can get picked off via tip, etc., not to mention a poor throw. A downfield INT isn't "good", but it's better than a 10-15 yard pass from our own 20 that gets picked off.
