So I was listening to the radio on the way home today...

And it was the first time I've ever listened to the 4:00 show on 1460. Of course, the two guys start talking about the Iowa vs. Iowa State game, and the second guy starts talking about how Iowa State is "going to win the game" because Iowa lost important players in Edds, Spievey, and Angerer who are "irreplaceable." Apparently, he forgot that we're playing IOWA STATE. We could put high school players in there and still probably win; we don't need shut down NFL talent to compete with a team that hasn't scored a touchdown against us since Vilsack was governor. He then proceeded to "explain" how Iowa State is going to win a close game because Austen Arnaud is going to have a great game. Why? because he can just "feel it," he knows that Austen has a chip on his shoulder and is going to perform out of his mind. Yeah, anyone else buying that reasoning?

I will never listen to that show again. The temptation to swerve into oncoming traffic was too great.

Yep, I'm sure you could. Are you 6 years old or what? I sure hope so.

That clown predicted Iowa State would put up 30+ on Iowa. Yet they could only muster 27 agains NIU...So Northern Illinois has a better D than Iowa? REALLY?!

But he could FEEL that Austen Arnaud was going to have a great game! Not to mention that their DC has had OVER YEAR to prepare for this game! HOW DO YOU ARGUE WITH THAT LOGIC, MBS?!

Well whats funny is most base their facts on iowa last year, like how Stanzi threw so many interceptions, even though he didn't have one his first game this year, but that is a reason why ISU will win, then they "can feel" Arnaud is just going to have a great game for no reason, when he threw 5 picks last year and threw 2 picks against NIU.

Seems like alot (not all) are using stats only when they make Iowa look bad or ISU good, but not when they make ISU look bad or Iowa good. Maybe I'm the only one seeing that.

It totally surprised me as well. Ken Miller is very good at setting point spreads and picking games. He has actually been contacted by Vegas line makers to come work for them in Las Vegas, and that is a fact. They don't offer that job to anybody. That being said I think he is wrong here.

Isn't this the Ken Miller that pegged Iowa at 10-2 --- losing only to OSU and Wisconsin?

Gee, I wonder if it has anything to do with getting hundreds and hundreds of people to check out his blog.

Lost a lot of respect for him today. And to think I thought it was just his former partner that was the publicity-whore.

That's comical. If a sports radio guy can only explain his reasoning by saying "I don't know I can just feel he's gonna have a great game" it's pretty obvious he has no clue what he's talking about.

I'd be surprised if Iowa State scores any more than 14 pts. Do you think he had a feeling ISU wouldn't score a TD against Iowa in 3 straight years too?

I have a feeling that tomorrow afternoon that guys words are going to make him look like a fool.

You all have to realize it's just their way of getting phone calls and "hype" around their show. Ken is pretty good about picks, but picking against Iowa at home against ISU, is a little far fetched for him.

This is the reaction they want, lol.

If they could throw high school players on the field they should have done that 7 out of the last 12 years. Also, nice job pulling the Vilsack line from Deace.

Listen, stats don't matter in this game. We lost to UNI one week and then won this game with ****** coaching one year for crying out loud. ISU hasn't had near the talent Iowa has had the past 3-4 decades. For 2 of those, it mattered. It doesn't now. I am not predicting an ISU win. ISU should lose the game. I do believe they can win the game. DO they have to play damn near perfect? Sure they do.

Did Bulaga not play in this game last year? Was VanderVelde even playing at that time? How bout two running backs last year that had a combined 0 carries! Iowa lost talent yes, however a couple of pieces weren't even playing in the game last year.

I believe Iowa has an opportunity in the next two years to start another streak of wins against ISU. The streak originally ended when Hayden Fry left and the Ferentz era began. Giving ISU a bit of confidence and McCarney at the helm is what ISU needed to consider themselves a contender in this game.

I could easily see Iowa building a new long term streak if they win tomorrow and would be able to win again next year too. When you have a team's number, they know it too and it's hard to overcome.

I was pretty shocked by what Miller had to say as well. Not necessarily that he thought ISU would win, but that he thought they would score 34 points in doing so. He never clarified if they got those 34 off of turnovers deep in Iowa territory or short fields set up by special teams or anything, so I have to assume that he thinks ISU is going to score 4 touchdowns straight up.

I don't know this for sure, but off the top of my head, I think the last time Iowa gave 30 points to anyone was against Purdue in 2007. ISU has some weapons on offense, sure, and they're going to try some things to keep the Hawks off balance, and probably throw in some trick plays. But they're not scoring 34 points.

You obviously don't listen very much. Ken keeps tabs of how many people read his blog hoping the numbers are low so he can tell is boss and won't have to write one anymore. One day he wrote gibberish and no one even second guessed it.

And god forbid someone picks against the Hawks.
