So how's about we make the ISU v Iowa series an "every other year" event.

This way, Iowa can schedule their trip to Ames during a year in which they have 5 conference home games rather than four and each team can schedule an alternate opponent every other season. It keeps the series alive, helps Iowa avoid any problems related to having too few home games in a season, and allows each team to schedule some new pre-season matchups.

I can't imagine anybody wants the series to disappear entirely...and this system would ensure every player gets to participate in this matchup at least twice, once at home and once on the road.

Not a bad idea, but I'd rather not play them at all. This game does little for University of Iowa. I wouldn't mind playing teams like Missouri, Arizona, or Pitt for example in there place. Teams that would better get us ready for the season ahead. I know, it's a rivalry game, but if we win we were supposed to, and if we lose it's a huge upset. I also don't care for playing UNI. Same reasons. A more robust schedule is what I would be in favor for.

I agree with C. Williams of CF; I'm paraphrasing him, "without playing IA, isu becomes less relevant in the local markets and state of IA."

Without NE and IA on isu's schedule, the clowns will probably not have any sell outs and minimal "area" media attention. UNI will become their ticket for coverage in the Iowa newspapers and TVs.

Well either way, it might not be up to Iowa or Iowa State. Unless the schedules work out perfectly, the series is definitely in danger.

Only in Kinnick, although I'm never that excited about seeing ISU, not a big name.

I would rather play a Pac 10 or SEC school.

I wouldn't mind seeing it end all together.

Not a big fan of the Iowa- ISU series, but couldn't the game be scheduled in Ames when Iowa has 5 conference home games and in Kinnick when Iowa has 4 conference home games? Provided the powers that be want to continue the series.

And assuming that when the revised conference schedules come out that they are lined up that way. ISU is going to nine games next year, so we'll know before too long.

The state will step in and not allow the CyHawk Series to end. I can't believe there are so many IA fans that want to see the series end. Over the last 10 years the series has been competitive. Although the game in Ames is not a "home" game it's only 2 hours away and should be considered a home game. It's not like your bussing 12 hours each way? I don't see what the big deal is?

the only reason the state steps in is to hopefully try and recoup it's annual $1.6MM that goes down the drain when it sends it ISU's way. That game is a moneymaker. If Iowa steps in, it should be solely to recoup it's losses from Follard.

I don't think the state has much say in it. Iowa and ISU are both contractually obligated to challenge any expansion of the conference schedule, but the reality - especially in ISU's case - is that they're just along for the ride. With Texas and Oklahoma on the schedule from here on out, you'd think it would be in ISU's best interest as well.

Follard as you say has done more with less than any AD in the country. Hawk fans can be as criticle as you want, the ISU AD job is a challenge and actually Pollard has kicked ***. The only thing that you said that has any credibility is that the game is a money maker....Bingo. The game will go on. Otherwise everything else you say is wizzz and without merrit

Nothing is ever as easy as it may seem. I believe the problem will be the scheduling of some Big Ten games in the second and third weeks of the regular season. In order to accommodate some out of conference games it will be necessary to move some games up. Take Notre Dame as an example. They are opponents for Purdue, MSU and UMi. These three games are after week two of the regular season. It probably means an early conference game for one or two of the three.

Another matter is that it will take a minimum of 10 weeks to play 9 conference games because the traditional season ending games will have some cross division teams playing. There just isn't any simple solution to potential scheduling conflicts.

Ah a voice of reason and well thought out statement. With Texas and Oklahoma on the schedule each year I would agree you only wat to play soo many jugerknots. The last time I looked pairity is among us and the quality of teams is comming closer together. ISU needs to stand up and play the teams on the schedule. I'm hoping Iowa stays on.

The game is a money maker for whom? Under the current arrangement, Iowa loses money every time the game is in Iowa City. The only thing Pollard has been successful at thus far is raising money. His hirings have been horrible - Chizik was obviously using ISU as a stepping stone, and McDermott did ISU a favor by leaving before he got fired. Sanderson left for a worse job at Penn State, and it is far too early to call Rhoads a success.

ISU needs to get to bowl games, regardless of who is on the schedule.

One more thought for the IA fans that think Iowa should only play ISU at Kinnick or play 2 home and 1 away. Please...get your head out of the clouds. Iowa is good I like watching them play and root them on. However, IA is not good enough to rule college football. Besides ISU has already bent over and accepted enough **** for one year.
