Signing Day Thread

That can't possibly be accurate; everyone knows the coaches spend all day in their office playing solitaire or minesweeper.

Well they sure as hell don't need to fly, unless to Utah.

2013 HAWKEYE FOOTBALL FAN SURVIVAL KIT:

There are on average about 300 kids annually in Dallas and 400 in Houston who "can tackle". Tanner Miller, Adam Shada and Greg Castillo could probably tackle well in high school. Trouble is ole' Josey ain't playing Marshalltown in the fall in Ann Arbor.

If 300-400 kids in or around Houston and/or Dallas knew how to tackle, defense in B12 wouldn't suck as bad as it does.

I'd love for Iowa to do all its recruiting there or in some other football rich urban area but its never going to happen. At least not while Ferentz is here.

They all play on the offensive side of the ball :D

East Mo' That would be West Silvis to you brah!:p FYI. 3 generations of Hawks. Old man class of '73 Iowa dental school. So don't get too stuck on the "trash" part.

Wow. A dentist in East Moline? Dude must be a millionaire! I mean what those proles lack in personal hygiene and the ability to speak English, they make up for it with a John Deere dental plan.

Also, East Moline is less of a town than Silvis because Silvis has the Wal-Mart.

Hey bro. Last I heard they are still trying to put in that pig slaughtering plant our on I-5 within East Moline city limits. Those are high tech jobs in that town. You have never heard of the East Moline economic development coalition have you Ghost?

Me either...

Pretty weak class over all it looks like just by the experts ratings, but what do you expect with the results the last couple years. The sad part is that it is not going to be getting any better anytime soon.

IrishIllustrated.com - Hadachek headed to Iowa

From article:

Hadachek arrived at his decision after weighing all of his options, which included a partial scholarship offer from UNI and walk-on opportunities at Iowa, Iowa State, Wisconsin, and Arkansas.

"Really, it was just my visit. Iowa was just the place that I felt the most comfortable," Hadachek said. "That was really the most overpowering factor for me."

This recruiting class looks very strong. Great job by the coaching staff in locating and recruiting talent. They are getting into new locations and that should also pay dividends in future years.

If this class is very strong then the rest of the big ten is going to be loaded since Iowa was 2nd to last in the B1G....

I refuse to call it the B1G. It will always be the big 10 even though I am still not happy with the conference after their actions towards the Iowa football program in the 1920s. Second I for one worry less about stars than the person. Iowa's coaching staff manages to find great talent that others miss. It takes extra work but it is worth it.

For Iowa this is not a bad class. I wish people would look past the stars. We hit positions of need big time, with mostly 3* guys. As long as they aren't law breakers I would expect this coaching staff, regardless of what some think of it, to be able to develope them thoroughly. No reason to claim its not great when not one kid has practiced yet.

Scout.com: Big Ten Team Capsules

From article:

Overview: The secondary got a boost here as we think Solomon Warfield is an impact guy, Malik Rucker has the versatility to play corner or safety, and Desmond King, who had over 20 interceptions in his high school career. Two tough, smashmouth style interior offensive linemen, Sean Welsh and Colin Goebel, appear to be future contributors, and linebacker John Kenny has a nose for the football and can play in space. He's joined by Reggie Spearman, a Chicago Simeon product who flipped from Indiana to Illinois and then to Iowa.
