Games like this happen, unfortunately for Iowa it happened to them on a huge stage. Some younger fans might not remember, but many will remember the year Iowa had #5 Illinois down in Champaign 28-0 after the 1st quarter. **** happens to good teams, just sucks when its Iowa on the wrong end of those.

I tend to think Stanford played like a team that should have been in the playoffs. We didn't have that chip on our shoulders from the get go. Add to that a 21-0 deficit not even half way through the first quarter and I think its safe to say there was a good reason why we looked defeated and lifeless early on.

And lets not kid ourselves McCaffery is one of those rare players that you can prepare for all you want but truly don't know what he's capable of until he steps on the field. That kid is special.

Yes they were WAY over rated...even a great day Stanford beats Iowa by 2 + scores.

Stanford was better. It snowballed. I do believe Stanford beats Iowa 7-10 times, a few time by 2+ scores. But I disagree they are 28 points better every time.

And if what you say is true, and even a great performance by Iowa means a 2+ score loss, even if Stanford has an off day...how do explain NW soundly beating them?

Heck, we are a pick 6 and 2 Hawkeye player flat out turf slips from losing by less than 2 scores when we had our worst offensive execution of the year.

On a bad day for Stanford they lose to jNW.....on a bad day for Stanford they would lose to Iowa.
