They don't have ANYBODY else to wrestle at 157 if he doesn't make the cut. With him going down a weight Cody Yohn also made the cut to 165 which should help them score more points.
I'm sure that the fact that 157 is light years easier than 165 this year doesn't hurt either!

So why didn't he just drop to 57 to "help the team" from the start of the year or atleast for national duals?
Just a few events in chronological order:
Metcalf Beats Schlatter.
Schlatter moves up to 157.
Burroughs Beats Schlatter in an open to start the year.
Schlatter decides to redshirt/Burroughs wins a national title.
Schlatter moves up to 165
Burroughs gets injured and is out for the year.
Schlatter drops to 157.
It doesn't take Charlie Epps to notice a pattern.

He wrestled 157 last night and majored the kid he wrestled. That's all I care to say about this rodent.
