Sagarin ratings

BYU is ranked #27 per the Sagarin Ratings, which is the topic of this thread. That road win is a good road win and better than Iowa's top win against #54 Xavier and #60 Notre Dame. Heck, even their away win against Boise State, #46 is better than Iowa's best two wins.

HA!!!!

Every ratings system and human greatly values road wins over home wins. Could very well be that byu is on the bubble and misses the tourney with a rating from 50-60. Still a better win than mich.

I don't care who Iowa has played and beat....The question was asked is BYU a solid team and they are not. They are 8-5 including a blowout loss to Utah. I don't really care about the ratings at this point. They play in a terrible conference and their ratings will not increase and will more than likely decrease. Boise State is another garbage team. They were undefeated going into the Kentucky beat down but have lost every game to any decent competition. I wouldn't be suprised if ND and Xavier are both rated higher than Boise and BYU at the end of the year.

BYU is only tough at home because they don't have any quality opponents coming in on a regular basis. You can count on your hands how many good teams play at BYU on a yearly basis. Name 3 teams other than Gonzaga that would be a tough win for them in Provo.

Stupid thread. Bottom line.... ISU beats Iowa at home. We will never know who wins on a neutral site or Carver (unless the 2% chance that these two teams meet in the dance). We'll have a lot more data to point to in order to determine who really was the better team by the end of the year.

So far, it's a pretty weak case to say that Iowa is better than ISU given the two resumes and the L in Hilton, but if you feel better telling yourself that, I will not lose any sleep.

Actually, the point of this thread was just to point out where Iowa was ranked, along with teams they've already played and upcoming opponents. The whole who's played a tougher schedule peeing match that it turned into was not the intent.

If you want to check out where over half of Iowas non conference opponents are ranked just scroll all the way to the bottom........

You work for KXNO? Who gives a **** - we already knew the preseason schedule was better than last year, but that Fran would prefer stronger opponents in future preseasons and is working towards that. We all get that, along with the fact that the schedule heats up in a big way once conference play starts, so we all have perspective. You wanna play Iowa's B1G schedule this year? Guess you will get the idea when you lose to the first B1G you meet in the NCAA tourney. ******* lil bro a lil slow after watching so much Clown football all the time.

Haha. Hawks are really pulling out the "lil bro" calls lately. Sounds like you're a little insecure.

News Flash...Rarely does every post in a thread tie directly to the topic of the thread. This is especially true when there is a rating system generally accepted as better than the one initially referenced. Don't worry. It's only your 12th post. You may catch on over time.

The problem is they have very little facts to use as smack against ISU. When you don't have facts you resort to name calling. I'm just glad ISU doesn't have to resort to that level.

It's always a bit of a dilemma. I want to root for ISU to be good in FB and BB because I like seeing quality sports in the state (UNI too) but the problem when ISU gets to be halfway decent, guys like this come out of the woodwork and chime in (with very little contribution) on every thread. At least they stayed away from the football boards for the most part. The basketball boards have been overrun lately.

Where were all these clone fans during football season? Did their website break down, or are they that eager to come tell us about their dominating 3 point win at home against us, or how they handled Boise State?

HAHAHA....really? Go to Cyclownfanatic, and take a look at all the name calling. Hok, TavernHok, gingers, NIT, Baylor dunked again....that is all Clown fan has is name calling, and trying to tear down the Hoks to make them feel like they actually matter. That is why you and your ilk are called Lil Brother. You don't stand on your own accomplishments, you try to stand on Big Brothers back by tearing him down.

Just own it. I'm not sure why ISU fan gets soooo ticked off about it. Hok, tavernhok, whatever. I mean you don't see Iowa fan flipping out about that crap. It is hilarious when you call a Clown Lil Brother. Their comeback us usually like yours, or they might just say, nah uhhhh....your da little brother....DERP.

It is the same thing with #SuperBowl. That sooooo pizzes off lil brother, that they try to claim that ISU is Iowa #SuperBowl all the time now......it would be funny if it wasn't so sad really.

I think we agree here. A road win is always better and greatly helps ratings (RPI). I don't know how the math works out (maybe you or someone does) but which is better? Let's say BYU finishes w/RPI of 60 (away game) and Michigan finishes with an RPI of 25 (home game)? Really just curious and wouldn't be surprised either way? And that's based on me expecting Michigan to improve through the year and ends up at 25.

I suspect it will slow down somewhere in this stretch of games.

1/7 Baylor (1st home loss?)
1/11 @ Oklahoma (trap game)
1/13 Kansas (no prep time)
1/18 @ Texas (tough to win at Texas)
1/25 Kansas State
1/29 @ Kansas (very tough to win at Kansas)
2/1 Oklahoma (trap game 2)
2/3 @ Oklahoma State (extremely tough to win this year at Oklahoma State)

I could see anywhere from 2-6 to 5-3. I'm guessing 3-5 and ranked about 22nd.

Michigan will likely start 3-1 in the conference before this stretch...@ WI, IA and @ MSU. They probably go 2-1 in the next 3 and then hit this stretch...@ IA, @ OSU, WI, MSU and @ PU. They could then finish 3-0.

I'm guessing they are 8-2 in the games not listed. I don't think they will do any better than 2-6 in the other 8 which is 10-8 overall. They have played some good teams so even with double digit losses they are probably sitting right around 25...may have to get some road wins though.
