Ruh-roh Re: Delano Hill

This may change some things in his recruitment.

Allen Trieu ‏@AllenTrieu
Detroit Cass Tech safety and #Iowa commit Delano Hill offered by #Michigan http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c

I just posted a comment on a different thread. I am not a subscriber to Scout so I don't know what it says but Allen Trieu is has been known for making mountains out of mole hills but when it comes to Iowa's top recruits I don't know especially when Michigan is involved with a player out of that state.

This is why we will never compete against Michigan, OSU of the Big Ten. He's the best of of our 2013 class - the only 4* and BCS level recruit we have. This will kill this class. But I guess that's football and part of the ebbs and flows. We will see if this recruiting class effects poor on-field performance in 3 years I guess. Oh well.

I see know what you are saying about Iowa making a big deal about the one 4* on their list as Michigan and OSU have a few 5* and any 4* guys already. I don't think Iowa is ever going to get back to the 2005 type recruiting classes but we all remember how big of a bust that class was!

I don't think his is a poor recruiting class, it is alot better than '08 and '09 but maybe not as good as the last two but that will be based on what you said "on-field performance in 3 years". That is what really matters, not stars or anything else, only what they do on the field.

This is correct, that is of course if we are basing this on recruiting rating systems. But the 08 and 09 classes were absolutely riddled with 2* recruits. Right now, outside of Hill and his 4*'s and the Juco Powell who isn't rated yet every other kid in the class is a 3*, so not too bad at all.

Plus Kirk said in his end of the season PC that he isn't worried about the direction of the program stating, "It worked in 2002 so I don't see why it won't work again." He won with 0*-2* and walk-ons then so this is still better than that.

See ya. He'll probably go to Michigan and play right away instead of coming to Iowa and sitting behind Tanner Miller.

I am not going to pretend to know anything about Michigan's depth chart and current roster of DBs but Tanner Miller is a SR next year so if Delano Hill sticks with Iowa and is good enough to play he will either RS and get 4 possible years to start or he won't redshirt and get 3 possible years to start.

I don't think being stuck behind Tanner Miller has anything to do with his choice to stay with Iowa or decommit and go to Michigan.

I am guilty just as much as the next guy with getting caught up in the stars game rather than what really matters and what they do on the field once they get here. I really hope he stays with Iowa but he grew up in Michigan so who knows what he is going to do until he actually signs with a team. Then again I think LSU is still in the picture I don't know they offered or not. If not, he is probably going to get an offer if they don't get some of the kids they have already offered. I don't think this is the last we have heard of big name schools offering him.

Wow what a fresh new comment to make. Did you just come up with that 1 or did you steal it from the other 10,000 threads that contain the same lame joke?

I would certainly consider this a joke though:

The point is we can all look back and laugh, oh wait, No we can't. This is still horrifying to watch, it's like a train wreck. It's horrible and you don't want to watch but you can't take your eyes off of it.

This video is further proof that Delano might have a better chance at coming in and winning the starting job at Iowa because Michigan doesn't have slow, white 2*/walk ons as starting DBs.

There's always another Tanner Miller to be stuck behind at Iowa.

Ridiculous how some on here act like he's gone. He hasn't made any moves while other high profile schools have contacted him. He has had chances to go, I realize it's his home state, but just because they offered doesn't mean he's gone.

and you can bet your azz recruits notice this kind of thing.

I don't think recruits follow the team or know the team history as well as many of the fans do. I don't think many recruits look at the depth chart and see lesser talent (lesser recruited players/walk ons) as a real impact towards their possible playing time.

As fans we have seen KF history with starting less talented players strictly because they don't play "his way". To me that is more on the player than it is KF. Younger players should know exactly what they are going to get from KF and his staff same way with the coaches know what they are getting from the players by the time starters are decided.

If they choose Iowa and they want to play, they need to play his way or they won't play.
