RPI up to 71

Perhaps....but da Goofs are marginally one of the 68 best teams in the nation right now. Iowa is definitely one of those 68.

Doesn't matter one iota. This isn't the BCS which has one-game amnesia/what have you done for me lately mentality. The NCAA committee uses the entire body of work throughout the season to formulate a 'resume'....and Minney's and Illinois are better than Iowa's at this point.

isn't there an ironic difference between the two? the NCAA is so hypocritical/stupid.

Which is why nobody talks about a team's last 10 games. Wait...

Minnesota is 4-6 over their last 10 games, with losses to Nebraska and Purdue. They need a first round win a lot more than people realize at this point. A 3-7 (if they lose to Illinois) L10 isn't going to help at all. That team is in a tailspin.

If Middle Tennessee loses they will fall onto the bubble and potentially steal an at large. Not many good wins but their RPI is 21 and they have 28 wins.

so you're saying I'm wrong? you really think that beating NW (if that happens) and then losing to whoever after that is going to get Iowa in? you're kidding yourself

Iowa does not have an impressive resume. they beat no ranked teams, have a couple bad losses, and do not have an impressive win/loss vs the higher RPI teams. Right now Iowa is sitting on the 2nd tear of teams outside looking in. they have to win 2, at a minimum, to even get a look.

Yes, finishing alone sixth in the best conference in the country is impressive......

As far as scheduling in the Big Ten is concerned, what difference does it make, Penn State wins one game against Michigan......

We are in.......

Lets beat NW first. A loss there ands everything else is moot.

Crazy that the losses ti nebby and purdue could keep us out.

Win 2 and i would be very upset if we dont get in. Hopefully the commitee would see the season as a whole.

Just.win.two.

Losses to the shuckers and boilers aren't the stain on Iowa's resume. What's really keeping us out is playing 5 teams ranked 300+ (and losing to VT, but that's not as bad as our strength of schedule numbers). I really don't see a difference between our schedule and Iowa State's except the bad teams they played were ranked around 250-275 instead of around 325. Apparently that's a big enough difference to put them in and us out.

Sure they talk about it. Current trendings is, well, trendy.

But they don't start/stop their conversations there.

Shame they finished with a losing record in the Big Ten and Iowa is 2-1 against them, losing to a last second three at Minnesota......

Not so sure I'd equate the rules-enforcement NCAA to the NCAA selection committee. I don't think the selection committee members even work directly for the NCAA.

I think I will be rooting for Illinois in that battle of Big Ten losers. A first round loss by the Goofs, I think, makes them at least sweat on Sunday.
