RPI up to 71

You are an idiot. 2 wins like everyone thinks they need puts them into the semis.

Does everyone think this outside this web site though? It depends on who that second win is against. Iowa clearly lacks quality wins, so they need that second one to be against one of the Michigan-Indiana-Michigan State teams.

yeah, i don't think 2 wins makes it a guarantee. just likely.

Who's a better team; a team that loses to great teams by a small score or a team who beats average teams by a small score? That's a more interesting and relevant question.

In college sports there is a huge schedule disparity among all teams, there is also a huge talent gap between the best and worst teams thus margin of victory matters as far as talent evaluation goes.

I'm just not into close losses. Bragging about losing to good teams close is a losing attitude.

Iowa has played rather poorly away from Carver. I don't think they're capable of winning more than one game in the big ten tourney. especially against one of the top 4 in conference on a neutral court.

No, they haven't. They played "poorly" in the 2nd halves against Michigan and the game in Lincoln. Iowa has played well and been beaten. It happens.

Yep...some of our season opponents are losing. Cheer for Indiana vs. Michigan cuz we played them twice. Cheer for Western Kentucky too.

can someone explain to me how Belmont, Colorado St, St Louis, and those types of teams can have such a high RPI? are they all playing killer OOC games and winning them?

They have all played a harder schedule and won more games than we have.

not in comparison to Iowa, dude. in comparison to those other high ranked teams like them. is Belmont playing Kansas, UNC, Indiana and such in their OOC? cause they play in a crappy conference against a lot of crappy teams.

Belmont played KU (7), Stanford (64), Middle Tenn (21), VCU (24), South Dakota St (76), and Central Florida (100) OOC. Yes...that OOC schedule is a million times harder than ours.

And then they spend two thirds of the year playing garbage teams in their conference

I haven't really understood the "we play poorly on the road" arguement either. We haven't won a lot but we have played good against some good teams. Just haven't gotten the wins.

It's a great argument for "fans" who go with what national pundits say in order to have the security of "such and such said blah blah blah so I was justified in saying this!".

The fun of "what ifs" that most message boards embrace isn't allowed here for a small group of people. Me, I love it. Gives me more reason to love Iowa basketball again instead of dreading an upcoming game.
