Ross P to Alabama - For Real

Whoa guys, let's not try to decipher OK4P here. I apply a simple standard in cases like this:

If a guy decommits from another school to come to Iowa, he is making a life changing decision that is and will be the best decision ever. If a guy decommits from Iowa to go to another school, no matter the school, he is at best one notch higher on the societal totem pole than Jerry Sandusky and he will inevitably be the crappiest player in the history of college football. It's really pretty simple and applying that helps me keep my opinions straight.

We need to go back in time and send all of our MAC Conference Commitment All Star Team poaches and send them back to whatever Toledo or Ohio team they would have gone to if it weren't for our last minute wizard hat scholarship offer.

Because "Kurt" talked to him two times when he said he was no longer a "commitment". And of course, he still had Stanford to milk.

That all took place last week. So again, he'd had the offer for a couple months before he switched. If he were just waiting for something better, I'd think he would have wasted no time switching to Bama once the offer came. You can't get much better than an offer from Alabama right now.

Sure you can. An offer from Stanford.

That's a haul, though. I can understand not going somewhere based on distance. Academically, though, it doesn't get much better on a D-1/FBS level.

And Andrew Luck says hello.

If I would have had a scholarship offer from Stanford, my parents would have packed my stuff and escorted me directly to Palo Alto.

That's what good parents do.

Realistically both are plane flights, unless you're into the 13-hour straight-through drive from CF to Tuscaloosa. Also, what Thunder said.

Understand. But maybe the kid doesn't like California. Who knows?

Either way, on the academic front, it's a no-brainer. But it's clear that wasn't his motivation.

Agreed. It's pretty obvious the motivation was get into the NFL, not academics. Nothing wrong with that and Alabama might be a better way for him to get there than Iowa. But I'm not buying the academics line.
