If I would have to guess I’d say probably none. Coaching is a year round full time job and they have way better stuff to do than checking out good fits for players who are leaving.

It’s probably just the standard press release form letter saying how good of a kid _______ is and how they hope he finds a good fit and how they wish him the best. Somehow I just can’t see a coach or GA spending time looking around or making phone calls to find someone a spot. I sure hope they don’t have time for that.

Twenty years ago I probably would have agreed with you. Teams are trying to get as much as they can out of fairly limited rosters. That means looking after the team members more than in the past.

I would imagine coaches are going to be guarded about who leaves and to not be seen as pushing guys out the door. I could also see the staff facilitating the exit of guys who want playing time somewhere else. I don't know if you put out the word that student X is available, and we have an evaluation of his skills for anyone interested. Than have someone help evaluate whether the prospective school meets the student's requirements. I am not sure what the restriction are on that sort of thing. I could see a number of pitfalls for anyone getting too cute with playing the system.

Could be a million dollar idea.

Classified ads for players / schools: "player seeking team", "team seeking player". Anonymous initially, so nobody burns any bridges, of course.

So you're saying "It'll fly, just try."
