Also, i know Lick hates playing zone but isnt it worth a shot in some situations? At least for a couple possessions to get teams out of there comfort zone. Playing iowa is pretty easy - we play half court man to man and we are undersized. Not exactly a lot to game plan for there
I understand the sentiment, but I'm not sure that playing zone would get Michigan "out of their comfort zone." Michigan, itself, plays a lot of zone and, therefore, their offense likely practices against it quite regularly and is likely not uncomfortable playing against it in a game.
I would like to see Iowa vary its offensive scheme every now and then, however. Perhaps some low-post screens to open Fuller and Cole on the blocks or to create mismatches as defenders switch screens on guards cutting through the lane. To be honest, I'm not sure that would work against Michigan's 1-3-1 zone though.
Our offense was clearly a bigger problem against Michigan than was our defense.
