Rivals Write Up

This can't happen unless the opponent for OSU in the title game is a Pac 10 team and I just don't see that this year. The next time a Pac10/Big10 team plays in the title game is the time that the Rose Bowl is forced to take a mid-major school as their replacement pick.

Now OSU in the title game and Iowa in a different BCS game is certainly a good possibility. I would still prefer Iowa in the NCG and OSU as the BCS at large.

I think caven is right here. I thought I read something awhile back that said eith this year or next year is the first in a new deal for the Rose, if the B10 champ goes to the NCG they have to choose a mid major if available before the 2nd place B10 school, or something like that

If that's true, then it would only apply should a non-AQ team meet the requirements to get in, and that the other bowl with a tie-in to a team in the NCG doesn't pick one first.

i may be wrong, but pretty sure that's not the case on the selection as far as the mid majors go. i don't think there are any stipulations on compensatory picks requiring them to pick mid major teams over power conferences if they lose a team to the NC game.

i'm doing a little more research into this... very interesting topic!
