they are fickle lil bitches over here. The more and more this develops about Black Friday - the more it looks like Nebraska opted on out and the more it looks like Iowa is gonna happily snatch up their showcase day...which is absolutely rich for me. I don't "really" love the Friday aspect of that game, but JUST so i can rub Husker's nose in it, I want Iowa and Wisci to play on Black Friday instead of Saturday. Scott Doc said today he thinks it will be

Nebraska wanting out because of Texas is made so much sweeter by the fact that now that they left, Texas sucks humongous ass now, missed the last two bowl games, and got beat by Maryland the other day. Take that, Eichorst.

I go over to their site for shits and giggles once in awhile and you pretty much nailed it above. About 80% of their posters are still stuck in this strange time warp from the Osborne days ... 20% of their posters are more realistic and acknowledge they are no longer relevant and the old Big 8 days are long gone and they had it pretty good while it lasted.
 
This is great news for Iowa fans. We want Mike Riley to last as long as possible. I'm not happy about the Black Friday change though. I think Wisky is a great rival...but it's been nice putting Nebraska where they belong...in the mediocre bin. I honestly don't think game 12 is a schedule location that Nebraska can beat us. Late season...where it's physical will and 9 years out of 10, Kirk Ferentz's teams are playing their best football. Now, in 30 days for the bowl game...we are back to square one...but that last game was lining up to be an annual physical beat down of Nebraska.

Thanks for pointing that out. The problem with sarcasm in black and white is that so much of the facial expression etc. that goes with good sarcasm is lost. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to know that you know who Billy Gibbons is.
 
It cracks me up how everyone talks about Nebraska being a joke of a program when they have 5 more wins than Iowa since joining the Big 10, they also have won 2 bowl games since joining to our 0. Don't get me wrong, I hate Nebraska but they are a storied program with 5 national titles and 2nd all time in bowl appearences.

Indeed I have and they are stuck in the past to some extent but no more than we lean on 2001 and 1985. I actually thought getting rid of Pelini was a bad move. He had them on the cusp every year. They have suffered from an identity crisis ever since.

Same here on the no prob. I actually came at you first with my "participation ribbon" comment which was out-of-line. I got what I deserved.

Life is about lessons and more importantly learning from, and remembering those lessons.

No doubt that if you look at Nebby and Iowa from Mars the bugeaters would be somebody you would take home at closing time. However one little word in your comment really creates a cause to pause.

You said they "are" a storied program. At some point, in any niche an "are" turns into a "were". At what point does that happen?

Since Nebby's last glory days were 20 years ago (last national championship) I propose that the days of "were" are NOW!

They are not a joke, but they think they are elite, and that's the joke. They are a good program with a storied history, but far from what they think they are entitled for the last 20 years. Minny has more national titles.
