Reserve your room in NYC in March

It will be interesting when Fran decides to lock the rotation in. As I see it, it should be something like a real 8 man rotation with Jok and MG getting spot minutes here and there until they get up to speed. Right now, either is a turnover and defensive score waiting to happen.

White and Uthoff need to be on the court together as much as possible. They can be a poor man's Gordon Hayward and Matt Howard type combo.

Who?????? Oh yeah, Butler, nevermind.

the perimeter defense will get better

the shooting, not so much

The perimeter D wasn't terrible. UNO shot 8-28 on 3's, including 3-14 in the second half. And that is with a banked-in 3 and a fling at the end of the first half.

Iowa's problem was 18 turnovers and not being able to shoot worth a lick. The turnovers were probably an anomaly. The shooting? I really don't know. This is an entire season and now 2 games where we are shocked when an Iowa player makes an open 3.

Why? Is there an NCAA Regional in New York this year?

Look CAAR, this is basketball, not football. There are, what, 31 games in the regular season plus the BTT? The NCAA tournament has pretty much relegated the regular season as meaningless for the most part. I just want to see us get ready for conference play, finish in the top 6 in conference and get a top 7 seed in the NCAAs. This team can do some damage there. But good Lord, if you are doing this after game 2, then by all means, you should just bail now. I mean, it's not like Fran's teams haven't shown the ability to get better as the year goes on.

there's no hate on the basketball program from me

3pt shooting will be a problem

we don't have a proven 3pt shooter on this team, and it is unlikely that someone is going to suddenly become one

big question is who will step up and take may's stopper spot

This team couldn't shoot the ball into a freaking swimming pool. With Fran not allowing any flow to develop in his play everyone and their brother rotation, I don't know how this team will score.

They are like the Memphis Grizzlies without the defense or automatic low post scoring.

Are we talking about an above-ground or in-ground swimming pool?

UNO didn't even shoot lights out. They shot 39% overall and 28% from behind the arc. They hit 8 three-pointers because they kept jacking and got pretty lucky on several (hit one from WAY out and banked in two more). They also hit several very contested shots. That's not the product of poor defense; that's just "**** happens."

Can we stop with the clueless posts? People who know nothing about basketball like the OP shouldn't show how silly they look by continuing to post garbage.

Just playing really.

But they still can't shoot.

Surprised Fran didn't troll DII for some little dude like these guys who can just shoot lights out.

Hmmmm.... Their best player went 0-9 in their previous game. Just saying.

People take things too seriously. I said quickly I was just playing.

If you can't laugh at your own, who can you laugh at ?

At the time I posted the OP it was pretty ridiculous.

Every year in November, this is what the basketball board is..because people judge this sport the same as football..which is folly...two games out of 31 in basketball (80 of 1240 minutes) is the equivalent to making a judgement in football after 3.1 quarters of the first football game.

That's nothing Jon! Most on this board make judgements on the football team based on the first drive. Heck, after 3.1 quarters, a majority of them are already talking about next year and what we need to do to get better! :D

And we're 2 and 0. I can at least somewhat justify pushing the panic button if we had lost Sunday's game, like we would have done a few years ago, but despite UNO getting very lucky on some shots and several bounces of the ball, we still won the game.

I don't think people are judging on 80 minutes, I think they're judging on the last 9,920 minutes of NCAA tournament-less basketball.

Which makes a ton of sense. I mean Iowa has only had 3 different head coaches since the last NCAA tourney appearance, why wouldnt you judge the last 7 years as a collective whole?

Indiana beat LIU-Brooklyn by 1pt tonight. They were 245th in KenPom ratings, Hoosiers were 23.5 favorites. Time to cancel the season for the Hoosiers ;)
