Report: Connor McCaffery to Play Basketball this Season

This is great news. Connor ran the team very efficiently against William Jewell. The team seemed more fluid with him in control. Takes a ton of pressure from Jordan, allowing him more space to operate. Bo is very good shooting the three on the run. Now he should be able to get open in transition much easier.....

Connor looked natural the other night and seemed to be really enjoying himself. He and Bo are Very Savvy ballplayers.....

When he starts nailing the three, which is only a matter of time, we will be even more dangerous.....

Think of the problems the opponents D will have with Moss, Bo and Connor on the perimeter feeding Cook and Garza. Plus the other combinations Fran will have.....

With Nunge and Baer to add to the mix this is going to be, perhaps, a breakout year for the Hawks.....

If this is true then, IMHO, Doc should consider transferring as well or at a minimum red shirting. If CMac does play this year, it will be the JBo/CMac show for the foreseeable future. Not that a red shirt will give him anymore playing time in the future, it would at least give him a chance get stronger and quicker. He'd then have a chance to possibly play more at the 2/3.

Just my 2¢ .. .. GO HAWKS!!!

Really not much choice here, we need someone to back up the point. I just hope Fran doesn't give him minutes that he doesn't deserve just because its his son.

He is going to make his mistakes... But I I would rather see him running the point than Christian Williams. He wants to play with his brother I see this is a totally selfless decision.

If he comes in and shows he deserves the minutes I'll have no problem with him playing. It's unfortunate that CW left as I do think Connor could have benefited from a year of redshirt.

I think every player every where, even the 5 stars could benefit from a RS - a year in the system, get stronger, mature and not use up eligibility. I personally, IMHO, so just my opinion, think it's crazy to think that Fran is going to play his kid more because it's his kid and not that he deserves the PT. He's a top 100 recruit people, not a kid who is at Iowa because of who his dad is.

Iowa really didn't have a choice. Hope no injuries to either Jo Bo or McCaffery. It is thin at PG. Question is who will be the 3rd in the rotation if needed? I'm sure Ellingson can spell for a minute or two a game if needed, but I really don't see him as an effective PG for any measurable length of time, if it gets to that.

I guess Moss would play PG if needed.

I don't think that will be the case. I see Jo Bo playing his usual and Connor switching with him. I think Connor's minutes will go up gradually throughout the year after getting more experience and how he performs. I don't think he will get much of any preferential treatment. I don't think Fran rolls like that.

Yea, he's no Jon Lickliter. He could either be here or playing his first year at another P5 school. Might as well be here.

C Mac will play 15-20 mpg if not more. He’s one of 4 guards on the team and I’d bet he plays more mpg than BE. He adds improved handles, size and passing.

I don’t see that. JBo will get at least 30 minutes and CMac’s role is primarily as his back up. I think we would have big defensive issues if those two share the court for any sort of sustained minutes.

Also, I consider Dailey a guard, or at least he is probably hoping to get some of those minutes, not to mention there has been some discussion that Baer can play some 2. Basically, with the overload of forwards pushing for minutes, guys are spilling into the 3/2 minutes that might normally be a possibility for CMac.
