ASAP. One deal I'd read thought within 5 yrs 30 something states will be in the game. I'd read quotes from Gary Palmer that they've been getting their ducks in a row for this day to come so.... I doubt it'll be too longSo approximately how long until Iowa passes the laws and I can walk into Prairie Meadows to place my bet?
Wanna bet?I'm certain Prairie Meadows in Altoona will jump in that pool head first.

Why on earth would you want to start involving the IRS in this?So approximately how long until Iowa passes the laws and I can walk into Prairie Meadows to place my bet?
I see a huge market opportunity for a phone-locking breathalyzer. Its way more likely you'll place your bets on a phone app than actually going into Prairie Meadows or a casino.
Ha I'd take that. The Iowa legislature had been drafting up possible laws the last few years already anticipating this... Go figure. State law makers being proactive towards something... Too bad it had to be something revenue making for themselves but that's another topic for another forum. But yeah the casinos will be all in even if they don't make a ton off of it. (which is one of the things they are bitching about and trying to sort through just yet how much exactly they'd take)Wanna bet?
Thank you. If only a few other posters could show the same restraint.Too bad it had to be something revenue making for themselves but that's another topic for another forum.
My thought is they'll get greedy and will leave a bunch of money on the table. They'll see potential revenue and try to snag too much. Casinos would have to be pretty cut throat to compete with small time illegal guys. If you're someone who'd start sports betting in a casino, you already do anyway and you can place a bet in just about any town for little juice or even none if it's a buddy. But yeah the casinos will be all in even if they don't make a ton off of it. Yup that's where the free market will sort it out... But yeah cigarettes is a similar kind of deal and gas in regards to just taxes and profits margins of those involved. Neighboring states with significant price/tax differences often have that happening. I knew folks in Des Moines that used to drive to MO to stock up on cigarettes... It was a group of like 6 coworkers that took turns doing it and heck if I remember how much they were saving but evidently it was worth it..My thought is they'll get greedy and will leave a bunch of money on the table. It's not above deck but like I said, guys who would bet after it's legal already do.
One example (it doesn't involve the government, though) is that sure, I can buy fireworks in my town now. But the two stands we had were two or three times more high priced than they are across the river in Canton so no one buys them in Iowa. It's worth it to drive 45 mins one way. I don't know if they're taking too much margin or if the state of Iowa taxes the shit out of them wholesale, or what, but they aren't reopening this year.

The NFL privately has to love this. The timing could have not been better.
Privately, maybe. Publicly, they are staying the course.

Lip service.
If people don't think there are some dropped passes, muffed kicks, and refs getting some cash once in a while they're nuts. Goodell knows it; he's a mobster like the rest of them.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist who thinks that every game is staged like some people, but come on. There's dirty pool going on in every business, church, sport, non-profit, and household in America.
