Regardless of how this ends, Bullock has impressed me

JVB was still doing alot of his same bad habits of a year ago.

He has to slow down the clock in his head a lot

I also notice that N.illinois was getting tremendous jumps on the snap. Need to change the snap count up, be more aware ect.

I just see a lack of awareness - Like he is thinking too much.

bullock was very solid. d was decent other than 2 to 3 breakdowns

oline and jvb struggled. but should improve..

go hawks

Bullock gives me hope but I will like him even more when he gets good about blitz responsibilities, the defense finally got it going. BUT JVBs throws were almost always to the short man and almost always below the waist. And the offensie line was really poor most of the time.

Iowa won this game on a special teams play. I wonder if many were upset that KF decided to punt.

Not to sound my own horn, but here's part of a post I made in August '11:

I might be the only one, but I'm most excited about Damon Bullock. Lightly recruited early on after missing most of '09 with a broken collarbone, he dominated Texas 5A District 5 (District Offensive MVP); that's one of the best high school districts in the whole country (by my count, the 8 HS produced 16 FBS players in the '11 class). He has really good tape and if he can learn to aggressively follow his blocks, he could be a very productive Big Ten back. As a plus, he played safety in high school as well and has solid tackling form, so he may get some early work as a special teams player.

He has run the ball real well today and has shown patience at times, power and good scoot. The OL has done well in run blocking but has struggled in pass pro.

JVB and WR's just not on same page. There is blame for both there. D has done well enough, IMO.

D was fine. Had their lapses, but they are inexperienced.

Bullock was HUGE, especially in the fourth quarter. He has a nice knack of stringing tacklers out making them expend everything to get to him.

He may not have blazing speed, but he definitely has good enough speed.

LOL tell me some more about Tavian please.

Jon is the one who made the comparison, and I'd wager he saw at least as much of Tavian as you did.

And besides, all I said about him was that he wouldn't have been the back he was without the speed. Does one really need to have seen the entire career to make that assessment?

Jon, I agree about Bullock and I have actually been mildly surprised with the D. But JVB shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt. He's a senior, a year of starting experience, and he's THE LEADER. This is the same old story with him on the road. I don't completely blame him for offensive chaos today, but he should get criticism. And plenty of it.

Some of JVBs passes were simply "off". I would say "awful", but weather COULD have been a factor.

DAMON is the man... Greg Castillo... what a game!!! OMG may Davis and Vandy some how come upo with a veryical passing game...

Yep, Castillo did a really good job staying with coverage. I cringed when Lynch looked deep in the fourth quarter, but Castillo was on the spot.

He did, and that's why Jon is the one I questioned, but your young *** felt the need to jump in.

I've said it for a long time. Castillo isn't unplayable. He's not THAT bad. Is he great? No. But he's serviceable against many college receivers.

Bullock was impressive.

Offense moved when tight ends were used/available.

JVB is going to get himself killed.
