Rebrotcha-watch...

I heard multiple times that this was it and he will be playing overseas next year. Haven't got confirmation so who knows.

Rebracca
Conner
Jbo
Kris Murray
Keegan Murray

I wouldn't be surprised if all 5 are gone. You are really hoping Kris comes back and it is wait and see mode on Rebracca.
Unless you are a middle to high lottery pick you'd be a fool to leave, especially if the potential is there like Kris. Keegan has played himself into a top 10 pick and the $$$ difference of top 10 vs. the rest of the lottery/first round would more than makeup for the difference. Kris isn't going anywhere if he is smart and he can just get paid an NIL by his "agent". Conner might as well come back as a player coach since I don't think he is going back to baseball and there is more money to be made by him getting the coaching gig going. If Jbo can find a time machine when 3 point specialist were a thing the in the NBA he would have a shot too, but now that players like Keegan hit it at a 40% clip it'll probably be overseas for him, unless he can get another year :)

Kris - 99.9% staying
Flip - 95% staying
Connor - 50% chance of him taking a Covid year - playing for your dad and with your brother is cool
Key - 25% staying - playing with your brother is cool
Grandpa Jordy - Hope he goes out on a high note

Kris is staying, might get an evaluation from the NBA, but he is gonna be a
Hawkeye next season

Rebraca will be staying another year

Would love to have Connor back, he is a skillful force on the floor, a General, I say

Any points he contributes are a welcome bonus

Word is that Jordan is applying for another year using a medical hardship clause because
of his hip operations

Would love to see this

I absolutely think Kris should go through the predraft process in the same way that JW did. That is a great experience and the kids get evaluated and told what they need to work on. They will tell him what his Dad and Fran and most of us see:

You could get drafted in the 2nd or you may go undrafted. Either scenario means you have to work your way through the G-league. You are in a similar position as your brother last year. You have flashed enough game that you have scouts attentions and you are an NBA prospect. But, you have not shown enough to warrant a guaranteed contract. Your brother went from a possible second round pick to a lottery pick in one season. Follow that same path. Work on your shooting and being stronger with the ball.
Keegan would be foolish to stay, Kris would be foolish to leave. They have a savvy father who has been through this and a coach who sincerely has their best interest at heart. They will both make the correct decision. I am quite certain of that.

"I wouldn't be shocked if Kris didn't come back."--Tom Kakert

He said that on a local radio show last week. Kakert is as dialed in when it comes to Iowa athletics as anyone. I never even considered Kris leaving until he made the case and it is very plausible that it could play out that way. Do I think Kris is leaving? No. I just don't think it is a given and I certainly wouldn't think it would be "foolish".

When someone bumps this thread in a month I don't mind looking like an idiot because it will mean Kris is staying. Hopefully, we won't have to dig into this stuff again for another month or so, if we are doing this next week I am going to be pissed because you know what would have happened.

I would love for Grandpa Jordy to get an extra year, if for no other reasons than ISU fans will set fire to the western part of the state (catching eastern Nebraska aflame too) and so much twitter meltdown. So much.

I think both Murray brothers will be back.

I actually have a source close to Barta on this one, for the one and only time in my life.

Are you being serious?

My source is Kenyon, who has not only given plenty of insight on Rivals on what Keegans intentions are but I've spoken to him in person. If Keegan is going 1st round he is gone, Kris has went through the same evaluations that Keegan did and they said he needs another year. Kenyon has NBA connections, the Golden State Warriors scouted Keegan (although I think a trade would have to happen here).

You all know I've been posting on here for year and I've never pretended to be in the know and I'm really not in this case (I'm just reconfirming what Kenyon has said publicly). Honestly this is tremendous for Iowa's basketball program, to have someone with the potential of a star player in the NBA come from Iowa gets recruits attention. Will they suddenly start landing 5 stars? I highly doubt it but Fran will have one hell of a sales pitch to the next Keegan Murray that comes along and has flown under the radar.

I agree Kakert knows Iowa athletics, but come on, he aint exactly going out on a limb there. If Kris goes, he says, "I called it!" If he stays he says, "I never said he was going."

When I hear someone who actually knows things say they believe he is leaving, I will perk my ears up.

I think Fran already has a helluva sales pitch- last years POY, and a 1st team AA this year, 2 NBA players last year, and whatever happens this year. I think some players that are flying in the radar have to be looking at the program as well.

Still waiting for a scholarship offer from Fran

Anxiously

One would certainly think that there would be interest from Blue Chip players

"Over the back" means the times they're pushed from behind? What do you think over the back means? Do you think it means the times a player jumps over another player for a rebound without even touching them?
A rebounder can't use his body to create an advantage against an opposing player in front of him. Don't listen to commentators because they dumb it down and way back in the 80's referees used to report it this way. If any referee reports it as "over the back" then they shouldn't be refereeing. Even in 3rd grade basketball. It will make you look at rebounding differently when you refer to it as a push.
There is no rule called "over the back," It's a push. A taller person can reach over a shorter player and grab the rebound and not be called for a foul. The referees let a lot of pushes go on both ends this past weekend.

Welcome Purdue fan.
Nope. Just a referee. Over the back is a stupid phrase that high school and below parents use. Be better. Find a rule book. Pushes happened a lot on both ends and the referees let almost all of it go. But, yes. As a Hawkeye fan, I thought Purdue pushed us a lot from behind. It drove me crazy

I saw Edey push Rebraca in the face when going for a rebound and, you guessed it, Rebraca was called for the foul.

NBA scout on espn said the one guy he is most excited to watch in the tournament is Keegan Murray. He said he is already a top 10 pick and could very easily play his way to a top 5 pick. Said he reminds him alot of a Tim Duncan for the fact is he just fundamently sound everywhere and shows no emotion and is just a stone cold assasion.

Rbraca paid his dues for Fran bigtime this year -- playing the post position when he was neither tall enough, athletic enough, or skilled enough to do so successfully. Pretty tough to go through that when you averaged 16+ pts the year before and were the star of your team. If Fran commits to allowing Rbraca to go back to playing his natural position -- power forward -- I can see him coming back. Work on his rebounding and jump shot and he'll be a great addition to Forwards PMac and Kris. I see no problem with Mulvey starting at Center next year with the Big O subbing. If the Hawks NEED to go small, they can always move Kris or Rbraca over to the post. All in all, if Toussaint and Uhlis both stay next year, along with Sandfort -- a very good nucleus of a team.

I think Kris will possibly test the NBA waters, but eventually return to school (unless he tests and ends up in the 1st round projections). Age is a huge factor in the NBA draft and he is 3 years out of high school.

In last year's draft, the first 7 picks were college freshman or players who went straight to the G League (for a year). Then, the 8th pick was Franz Wagner (Michigan sophomore) and the 9th pick was Davion Mitchell (Baylor junior). In total, there were only 5 players that were 3 years out of high school that were drafted in the first round of last year's NBA draft.
Everyone makes a big deal out of the Murrays being three years out of high school.

Didn't they leave Cedar Rapids after their junior year and thus make the year at the academy technically their senior year? Does anyone know for sure?

And of course don’t forget Tony Perkins.

He would become our all time leading scorer while averaging less than 12 points per game/career.

Ok.......Can I ask you..............Why isn't the 3 second in the lane rule called anymore? It is utterlelly comical anymore watching games.

If Kenyon says he isn’t ready, then he isn’t ready and he will be back. I just don’t think it is a slam dunk that everyone is making out to be that he is coming back.

He is already a 2nd round pick, he will be doing the same things that his brother is doing in these pre-draft work outs and if he crushes it, he slides into the late first round. This comes down to Fran being able to sell Kris and Kenyon that it is worth it for him to come back. I was listening to Kakert last week and he made compelling case for him not coming back.

If Kenyon Murray says Kris isn't leaving there is almost no chance that Kris is leaving. Not only is Kenyon his dad but an ex-BIG player who knows what it takes. And Kenyon and Kris can get info from draft gurus about Kris. I do not think Fran's got much to add here and probably agrees with Kenyon.

Why have Kris go in the 2nd round when in a year he can get really top 1st round money like Keegan. Kris has looked very good this last 14 games and he will workout with his brother, work on his moves and shot, etc etc.

I see him 99% coming back.
