How about Iowa! When Dan McCarney was a player and later a coach, Iowa football players seldom got into trouble. A simple phone call to an assistant coach & later to Dan when he was an assistant coach would handle the problem. The University would quietly deal with the situation & nothing would appear in the public records & the press.

The stories of what football players got away with in the '70's & '80's is legendary. Of course Dan's father was the Iowa City Chief of Police.

Are you sure he didn't make the trip? If so it makes me optimistic that the rumor is false since the rumor involved him getting driven back from ames.

Initial reports I read said he didn't make the trip due to injury.

To announce a suspension on Monday and be cleared to play Saturday seems highly unlikely. I really hope it's something minor and gets cleared up quickly though.

I kinda feel bad for the guy who had to drive him home. I'm sure he would have rather watched the game. Must have drawn the shortest straw.
